Future Cruise Credit For Comped Cruises (MGM)

Recommended Posts

I have two comped cruises in the next 6 months that were booked through MGM Noir (7 day cruise + $300 OBC).

One of these was an Alaska sailing that I already moved from May to August and hope it's going forward. Now if it doesn't I had a couple of thoughts.

Considering these cruises are technically zero fares I'd say they aren't eligible for any FCC, let alone the OBC am I correct? The comps would just expire.

The way it shows up on my Celebrity confirmation is this:

Cruise Fare 1120.00

MGMPlayerRate 0.00 MGMPlayerRate 0.00 YCF1-CELJNKSLT -1120.00

Total

1120.00 0.00 0.00 -1120.00 199.68

Taxes, fees, and port expenses

Total Charge Amount Paid Balance Due

199.68

Before the whole comp expires maybe I could try and see if X would consider this $1120 plus bonus as FCC. Any experience how they treat these bookings?

I would suggest that a call to the originator of the 'Comp'd' sailings be contacted or X then let us know what you find out, as there may be others in the same situation.

Normally you will get the port fees and taxes refunded. You're not getting any FCC, which is based on the CRUISE FARE, not the port fees and taxes. Since you didn't pay any cruise fare, you're not getting any bonus FCC.

For the last 3 years my husband and I have been cruising almost exclusively on comped cruises, whether via land based offering or cruiseline casino programs. The only time there's an issue is when you pay for cabin differentials. We had a cruise on the Quantum of the Seas in Mid March from Singapore. We used a Royal Casino Royale cruise certificate to pay for 99% of the cruise fare and had like $60 we had to pay for as cruise fare differential.  We canceled the cruise before it was canceled by Royal. We had to FIGHT for the $60 refund but our reasoning was that you're denying us boarding the cruise since our flight to Singapore was via Hong Kong. Anyway we worked with a supervisor and the $60 was refunded. We currently have a Comped cruise in June on Carnival with a b2b on the Equinox. Both are comped cruises. We also have a comped cruise in November on the Apex.

@kwokpot do you mean that no comp'd sailings will be replaced at all?

With the OP situation I would think they would be able to move the tier based comped cruise to another cruise, but there's not going to be a FCC bonus. It's going to be whatever the original offer was, with original terms ASSUMING the terms are not being amended and extended, which I would think it will be.

Hmm not sure another cruise will actually be sailing either unless the Canadian ports are the problem. Of course I'm flexible if the itinerary interests me (non-caribbean) but the selection is limited as it's max 7 days and no Edge/Apex. Maybe the best would be to move the date to May 2021 and use the next comp for a B2B / different route next year.

The cruise fare is stored/listed as $1,120 but then deducted in another line.
