Just back from a couple of days in Auckland.  Spent too much, ate too much, drank too much.  Went to a nice little Japanese restaurant.  Excellent food & good sake.

Too much traffic in Auckland for me but there are some great restaurants.

Thanks for photos from Japanese Restaurant in Auckland.  Would love to eat there if I get to Auckland again.

Any of your local clubs doing these promos? My local Golf Club, Club Catalina, is doing it real tough with the covid restrictions, few members going in and few visitors.

So today in the mail they sent me 10 speciality coffee vouchers and a $20 eating/drinking voucher, to be used by 31.8.21.

They want you in the doors to spend some more $ on drinking, eating and gambling !!🍷🍽️

Nothing like that in our town. One local restaurant worker thought it was a good idea to visit Sydney on the weekend. $1000 later and a black mark on her named restaurant.☹️ We won't be visiting there for a while.😉

HMCS Calgary visiting NZ for 6 days next month.

First foreign military vessel to visit since the pandemic started.

17 day transit, so no restrictions as long as all test negative on arrival .

Name and shame lol. Many of our restaurants down here are just opening up for the Canberrans who arrive for the weekend. Both big clubs, my golfie and  my rissole are struggling, but they will survive.

On the subject of Promos I turned 77 yesterday and so far have had a $25.00 voucher from my wine supplier, a free specialty Scone from Bakers Delight, a $30.00 voucher from Philips, plus the usual weekly offers from Coles/Liquorland/First Choice/Dan Murphy/Woolworths. It seems these days we must be getting ripped off something fierce if retailers can offer some of the deals that have been coming lately.

Loyalty offers? The equivalent of free laundry for Elites on Princess? 🤣

The Princess loyalty perks are being eroded away though now and laundry may be one of them.  I guess more due to Covid non cruising.

RCCL still has the 4 alcohol drinks nightly.  The Diamond Lounge may still be there with the better coffee available, but possibly not in the previous great locations.

So far the free laundry is still on the perk list. There was a three day turnaround on the cruise just before the pandemic hit. We didn't really need to use it but, hey, newly Elite we used it just because we could.🤣

The only thing that's been eroded is the free internet minutes, possibly because the majority of passengers are booking using the Plus package, and possibly because of changes for the Medallion. It's annoying for people who don't drink alcohol and don't want to pay for a full internet package even at 50% off.

RE Mr GUT, anyone heard from him? He was going to hospital last week.

I've been wondering that too. Hope he's OK and recovering well from whatever procedure he had.

Still around thanks Uncle Les, things ended up taking a turn and ended up in hospital a bit sooner than expected, after another one of these stupid mini strokes, but home getting lots of attention from my Maxy, who refuses to let me out of his sight in case I disappear again.

ONYA son, get well soon, get a pie into yer.  Leave a bit for Maxy.  Dogs can really sense illness in a human.

Didn’t have any procedure so far, they keep changing their mind about how to deal with an artery to the brain that is less than 50% the other being, to quote the specialist “gooooooone”

Wasn’t very happy when the ambos carted me away on a stretcher, gave Mrs Gut hell each night when she got home without me, first night home was in touch with me, usually just a paw on my arm or leg, all night, now he lets me out of his sight for upto about 10 seconds, I said it was a pity he couldn’t come to hospital with me, but then there would have been no reason to come home.

Even funnier when I asked what destroyed the one that’s gone he turned the screen around and said “Well your neck I’d cactus”.

The actual strokes or TIA’ or anyone of about 6 other names are the scarey bit, can’t talk (or at best mumble), may not be able to move, can’t open my eyes, but am totally conscious and aware of what’s [not] going on
