Our original cruise was canceled, so rebooked and got the $600 per cabin OBC, and we already had a lot from price drops, which was carried over to our new bookings. So we ended up with over $1,100 OBC per cabin.

We have $1500 OBC from price drops for our July cruise plus $100 shareholders credit and $100 for the type of booking we chose.

We received $600 per cabin because our April cruise was cancelled and we chose to rebook.

You would be the first person I have heard of price drop OBC carrying over to your new booking.

 

Are you sure it wasnt that your FCC was not more than your new cruise fare cost, so they gave you on OBC so you didnt lose it? I think I had read on the original fine print, that was limited to $500, plus a lot of bookings right now have an additional $50 or $100 with the booking price.

My TA handled everything, but we only went from 2 interior cabins on an 8 day southern Caribbean, to 2 OV cabins on a 7 day Western Caribbean. That’s a pretty big difference in price if that were the case.

If the OBC was from a price drop, you get to keep it. If not you would of payed more than what they carry over to your new cruise. Then you would be out money.

That is my understanding as well.  You get OBC for price drops only if it is after final payment.  Therefore it is money you paid to Carnival on the cruise fare.

I had 2 cabins that have been canceled. I have $2,4800 In onboard credit.

$600 from each cabin for rebooking =$1200 OBC

the rebooked cabins cost $800.00 less went to OBC

early booking for next year they gave me 100.00 per cabin =$200.00

booked last week already got a price drop today of $140.00 a cabin = $280.00

         $1,200

         $800

         $200

        $280

total $2,480.00

 

Drinks  are on me. This worked out great, my original out of pocket was $4,574.56 for two balconies I have rebooked two balconies and now also have $2,480.00 in on board credit.

So we recently rebooked.. then the price went down.  Called  (it was right before final payment) and got the price reduction.  The agent told me to keep checking for further reductions.Okay, now final payment is paid...  saw another price drop today and called again.  Was told that Carnival won't honor it because the price was only for new bookings.  Has anyone ever heard of that??  First time ever for me.  

My sister was the one who alerted me of the price drop. We are on the same cruise, in fact, in the stateroom nextdoor.  She had called yesterday & received it (would be OBC ) because it's after final payment.

Right so if you paid $1,000 then the price dropped after final payment by $150. You would have $150 OBC. You effectively bought this OBC by overpaying compared to the “final” cruise fare.
 

when you go to rebook, your FCC is worth $1,000 since that is what you paid. You don’t get the OBC carried over. If you did, they would give you $1,150 worth of value.

 

alternatively they could give you an FCC of $850 plus OBC of $150, but that is not what I understand they are doing.
 

if you book a cruise for cheaper than your FCC, they will give you up to $500’in OBC I believe.

Did you get early saver? You only get price protection after final payment if you booked early saver.

You know, I truly don't know.  Our original cruise was Early Saver.  The  I rebooked a few months ago because we lost 1 in our group so had to switch to 2- with 2 in each stateroom. It was at the start of huge hold times so instead of dealing with a long hold time, the agent cancelled and then rebooked us.  Then when our San Francisco cruised was cancelled, we used FCC & the $600 OBC for the Spirit.  So it could probably be not Early Saver anymore.  So if he had waited out the long hold time, we still would have been Early Saver.  But what the heck, it is what it is!!

I dont think you can pre book excursions with OBC.. you can only book them once your on the ship if your using OBC.

Cancelled sailing due to Coronavirus all got $600 OBC.  Other amounts come with rate drops after your final payment date has passed.
