Received credit for cancelled flights

The whole refund situation is very complex.   It depends on if the airline cancels or you do.   Some airlines are citing exceptional circumstances with the Covid and trying to only offer vouchers. As a result some passengers are having better luck doing chargebacks to their credit cards.  It also depends on the airline and the rules of the countries flown to or from. 

 

We were fortunate in that we received our refund yesterday from British  Airways for our flight they cancelled, although they try and encourage you to take a voucher. 

 

@Ontario Cruiser if you need specific help for your situation the Canadian Facebook Air Passenger rights groups have templates you can use for addressing your specific situation.  It is a free service and has helped many.

I received an email from United that they are issuing me a credit. I had to appeal because my outbound flight in May to Vancouver from SFO was cancelled but my return in June from Vancouver to SFO was not cancelled because it was a June flight that hadn't been cancelled yet. I filed about 3 weeks ago.

We've processed the refund today.

If your ticket was purchased using a credit card please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to post to your account. For check payments, please allow sufficient time for the check delivery. You may also view the refund details using the Check Refund Status link below and enter the 13-digit ticket number or 8-digit Request ID listed above.

Another positive on Norwegian Air. Received refund from them last week 30 days from my scheduled flight. Of course I need to 

return it to them because I disputed the charge on my credit card and received funds already.
