Have You Been Informed That Your FCC Is Available For Use?

A lot of threads full of good info about refunds, received or, more likely, not yet.

How about FCCs?  Have many received these yet?

Our cruise was cancelled by HAL on March 13 and we haven't heard anything, after nearly 7 weeks.   Is this the norm?

Someone on FB posted yesterday that he received his FCC (cruise canceled March 7).  It was approximately 8 weeks.  Our cancellation date is the same as yours, hoping ours comes soon.

Was your onboard account set up on a cash basis? Every cruise I've ever been on, my refundable OBC was credited to my credit card on file (the card I used when my onboard account was set up).

Actually, now that I think of it, the checks from Bottomline are when we sail Princess.  On Holland, which we cruise more often than Princess, if the amount is more than $25 (which it always is) they give us cash right onboard the ship.  My DH says there is also the option of waiting several weeks for a credit card refund but he is the one who goes to Guest Relations to get the excess OBC and I didn't know about that option.  I always say I expect Holland will change that policy and revert to a check from Bottomline Technologies before long, since that is what their sister company does.  They could hold onto their cash longer that way too.  And we all know they need cash more than ever now.

Hi, neighbour to the south.  Hope both of us receive our refunds soon.  Did HAL cancel on you?  With us HAL cancelled 48 hours before departure.  I was glad we hadn't left for the airport :)  I had packed everything, however, and had a miserable time unpacking!

I see you are booked on the K in January  we are thinking about one of those Collectors, too.

If you receive any word from HAL or your refund, please post to this thread!

We were luckier than some of you, ours was canceled about 2 weeks before we were to fly to Sydney.  We waited for HAL to cancel, but saw the writing on the wall well before that 😞  I think we took a few weeks to unpack, it was too depressing!

Will definitely let you know when our refund comes through, and it would be great to meet you if you book that January cruise on the K.  🙂

My 3/21/20 cruise was cancelled 3/15.  I requested the FCC and promptly rebooked for 11/21/20.  I received refunds for the excursions, wifi, etc within two weeks, so pretty quickly.  I'm still waiting for the FCC to be applied to the new cruise.  I called about it about ten days ago and the rep I spoke with was able to see my FCC and she told me that when it is available to be applied (it wasn't at that time), it would be automatically applied to the new cruise.  I did put down a deposit for the new cruise to take advantage of the promotion at the time.  The deposit was for cancellation insurance and port fees.

We are looking at all the dates for the Collectors on the K.  Any one would be good, all depends on the timelines for the cruise lines to get back into the game.  We really don't want to go through the will-they-or-won't-they-cancel-us once again. Hope we can pick yours!  You have some good cruises booked and we could have fun comparing notes!

Lets say that they were "Interesting Times".  Another thing I am waiting on is the expenses from our time in Cambodia and two flights that I had to book onboard and then cancel when we were escorted away from the shores of Thailand.  I sent in the form with all the supporting documents on 5 March.  On April 17, I received an email from HAL that they will provide full reimbursement for the expenses of $1784.81.  That is to the penny of what I had requested.  But they say that I will receive a check from a third-party vendor, not Holland America Line and it should be issued 60 days from the request date.  I wonder who the "third-party vendor" is.  I assume the 60 days is from their request date, not mine.

An update with good news.  I received the check today from Bottomline Technologies.  And it arrived within 60 days of my request date (I mailed it on 5 March to HAL), rather than the date HAL said they approved it.  It covers two cancelled flights, meals at the hotel, and a one-time laundry service at the hotel.  Not bad, as HAL has done exactly what they said they would do.

That is encouraging. We actually cancelled our March 21st cruise on March 7th, not wanting to wait it out. Haven't seen anything yet but we are closing in on 60 days. We got all our onboard spending credited back to our cc within a week and our taxes and port fees just went toward the deposit on the new Dec 2020 cruise we booked that same day. That is where our FCC will go too when it appears.

Congratulations!  It might help others if you could take a photo of the return address portion of the envelope and post it here so others who are expecting refunds on expenses could see what they are looking for in the mail.  In my opinion it looks like a piece of junk mail!  It says Bottomline Technologies in small nondescript font.  Their address is on there too.  Just a suggestion so those important checks don't get thrown out in the recycling bin with the other junk mail.

I have never attached a photo to a CC reply, so I will see if I can figure it out.345349564_2020-05-05Bottomline002.thumb.JPG.db73fb1fc90d25c903f39d42acce7daf.JPG

Both the return address portion of the envelope and the address portion are in the same large window.  It also says "For Holland America Line N.V.", so it should be obvious what it is.  I have never received one before, so don't know if this is a newer, more useful envelope.

Ray, good job posting!  Yes, I agree.  Adding "For Holland America Line N.V". helps immensely in identifying it.  I guess they have added that in the past year or so.  Anyway, this will help others who are waiting for that refund.  I have to keep looking at my credit card since that is where my cancelled cruise funds are supposed to show up.  Trying to be patient.  Cancelled 3/17.

I got some good news tonight.  Since the August cruise we wanted to book is cancelled I reached out to our PCC to book a 12 day March cruise.  Our FCC was posted to our mariner numbers today!  Our balance due, after also using a FCD, is 190.

The FCC was from our March 18 sailing that was cancelled on March 13.

Thanks for letting us know!  Ours was cancelled on March 14 but sailing date wasn't until April 2.  Guessing they're going by sailing date order...

Good for you!  Looks good for the rest of us waiting for the mid-march cruises to get taken care of!

I saw this notice on the HAL website, in today's cancellation notice.  The last sentence is particularly noteworthy, IMO.

Please note: Refunds are being processed by sailing date of the cancelled voyages with the earliest departures being refunded first. We ask for your continued patience in affording us the time to work through the refunds properly. Because we are not able to use our usual automated process, our team is manually handling a large volume of requests while working from home.

Hi,

HAL cancelled 2B2B cruises departing FL 22nd March and 5th April on us and like everyone else we are waiting for our FCC. You mentioned that "our FCC was posted to our Mariner numbers"- Does this actually appear somewhere on our Mariner account?? and if so, where would I find it?  We are also waiting for FCC from Princess for a cruise that they cancelled with only 24 hours notice on the 13th March for a 14th March sailing (lucky we hadn't flown out of Australia a day earlier) but Princess have a designated section for FCC in My Profile and then Circle Savings Account. We are up to day 56 since we put in our request for FCC, so it will be interesting to see if something appears in the next week.

I will post here- if we receive our FCC.

Cheers,

Jenny

Well, that's good for some, but what about those of us that cancelled on our own 3 months before our sailing date before HAL decided to cancel? We have to wait an additional 90 days? They should go by the earliest cancellation date, not the cruise date.

The FCC is not available for us to view.  I have a small credit still available but am not sure of the exact amount.  I am still waiting on the refunds for taxes and insurance plan.

I had this same question, and I was told on 3 different occasions that if you cancelled on your own, the processing/wait time  would take effect from YOUR cancellation date - not the date of your cruise,

The date of your cruise only applies when HAL has cancelled sailings.  So your cancellation should slot into 30-60 days from your date of cancellation with HAL.

My TA sent me an email advising of this, also based on their conversation when cancelling with HAL (but I have since also made some inquiries to HAL).

Hope this helps.

Carol

This applies to our situation too.  We cancelled on our own on March 17 for our June 6 and June 20 cruises.  I would be beyond upset if we had to wait until 60 days after the cancelled cruise dates, after waiting about 51 days already.

Did you get a notification that your FCC was posted or did you happen to call in and find out? (I haven't heard anything yet and I don't want to harass them about it if I don't have to.)

Grats! Checked in again yesterday with our PCC (today is 60 days out from us canceling our cruise) and nothing yet. She said to check back next week.

With the new cancellations yesterday I reached out to my PCC to replace our March 7 day cruise with a 12 day cruise.  When booking it she realized that the FCC was available to use.  I’m still waiting on the refunds for port taxes and insurance but did consider it a positive step.

We booked a cruise yesterday for 2021, and our PCC was able to get the FCC (and OBC) from our cancelled April cruise applied to it.  The FCC from the August cruise that was just cancelled yesterday will be available in 60 days....
