After refund fiasco, why would you ever consider Royal again?

You forgot to ask a key point.

If they eliminated/modified the C&A program as a result of possible bankruptcy or limited cash flow, would they still sail with Royal?

Why do you continually harp on this? The C&A program is part of the overall cruise experience for many of us so, yes, it is a factor in why we sail RCI. If it went away would it change things enough for me to not cruise with them? It probably wouldn't even though there would be a change in the overall experience. I would still have the same concerns that what ever other cruise line I chose would provide a disappointing experience. However, I fully admit I might be more open to taking that risk. So if the C&A program keeps me from taking that chance isn't it accomplishing exactly what a loyalty program is designed to do? If it is the factor that keeps us coming back to RCI does that somehow make us, somehow, inferior people?

Yes, saw that. Many (not all) of the more exclusive one-of-a-kind itineraries are slightly down in price as well.

Keep in mind these are cruise only fares.. the OLife fares are even a better bargain in my opinion for anyone finally wanting to try a higher end cruise line.

All travel providers are struggling right now. And yes, we already have 2 more booked. 🙂

I have one more booked two were canceled. But I would stay with R C L, they have been great and so I stay. All the lines are having problems be kind you will get your money, but if you let the cruise line hold it until you book again it help business.

I have two additional cruises booked since the C-virus kicked off.  Head over to the princess board... Royal has been doing well by comparison.

HAL board is fuming.  One lady's cruise was cancelled the day after her final payment date ($20,000).  She didn't think it would happen to her.    HAL has the most loyalists of all I think.

not sure that I agree on the ticketmaster analogy. I had a concert in Vegas for June that was cancelled this monday. I received an email that it will take over 30 days for refund. I won't expect to see that money until end of June is my guess!

I had a trip planned to Vegas for end of May. Two shows were cancelled, both cancellation e-mails said it would take up to 30 days. One show refunded within 24 hours, the second took roughly  2 weeks.

Ticketmaster probably handles 100x the number of transactions that Royal does. But it really is just a 3rd party passing the money back. It's not coming out of their pockets. Everything is automated and it depends upon the original vendor.  In my case, 2 different casino theaters.

Yikes, that's tragic!

I got an email from Royal telling me my cruise was cancelled. The email said do nothing and get the FCC or click here for refund.  I did nothing and got my FCC 36 days later. My TA and I literally did nothing except apply the FCC to a new cruise.  I'm still waiting on taxes and fees but its only a small amount so not really worried.

NY, NJ - Mid-Atlantic😷

Actually, NY is considered North East.   NJ is sometime Northeast and sometimes mid-Atlantic.  Go figure. Poor NJ never gets any respect

Just to throw this thread further off-topic, PA is sometimes North East or mid-Atlantic (with no Atlantic coastline???) and once in a while Great Lakes.

1) It sucks having to jump through hoops to get a refund

2) It sucks being RCL right now

These are difficult times for most of us. I’m willing to cut RCL a little slack instead of condemning them. Maybe we can all do that for each other.

Think about how much time you and your travel agent spent simply trying to get your money back. How many calls did you make?

Why would anyone do business with a company like that again? I certainly won’t.

I’ll find more joy doing other things with my money.

I have never had to make more than one call.

We had a horrible experience on our first HAL cruise but that did not deter us from booking several more cruises with HAL.

So far 6 phones calls ( no promised call backs ) totally 3.5hrs

3 emails = 1 reply

Ive had 6 emails offerIng discounts on drinks packages

Also received 5 emails repeating the same cancelled cruises relating to April including 2 today.

Absolute shambles

Born and raised and spent the first 50 years of my life in New York  and never considered us as northeast. Northeast was everything north and east of us.
