And it's safe to assume if no Alaska season, then Ovation probably won't come do the scheduled Hawaii sailings and the subsequent TP from Honolulu to Australia?

When cruising resumes it will be limited to the Caribbean for North Americans only and The Med for European Union members only based on what I have been reading. Mainly 3-5 day cruises. Get bodies on and off before anyone gets sick and avoid bad PR with outbreaks. We shall see.

The cruise lines really need to suspend all bookings until they get a re opening plan together. Pretty certain no long haul cruises the rest of this year.

Interesting thought, I suppose that could be their thinking.

Alaskan cruise will not happen without a Canadian Port. Hard to see Canada opening its border to US without a 14 day quarantine. Other cruise line have already cancel the season.  Sure bet would be Lift and Sail. I am researching that now for next year but airfare seem to have gone up dramatically. You cannot book airfare that far out so will be taking a bet that airfare will come down.

Interesting... and positive... turn of events.

https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/covid-19-still-hope-for-vancouvers-cruise-ship-season-but-some-lines-have-cancelled-for-2020/wcm/936fefc4-c277-46de-bcdd-8bf7569a138e/amp/

I guess it will also depend what YVR decides regarding air travel.

It will also depend on what ships traverse the Pacific, how many ships, how they are going to staff these ships now that staff is sent home, how they are going to appease the CDC (for Alaska port stops), etc etc etc etc.

Another note on this story....

"Even though Vancouver travel agent Sanjay Goel of Cruise Connections said he is processing more cancellations than bookings these days, he said he is still taking 500 bookings a month, about half his usual number, mostly for 2021 cruises and some for the fall and over Christmas."

Love to see a 15-17 day Alaska out of LA with a quick stop in Ensanada.  Did one out of SF but it ended in Vancouver

Is that with or without  quarantine days included?

No common Alaska cruise port is in the Arctic.

The governor just announced Alaska will be 100% open on Friday.

“It’s time to get Alaska back on its feet. It will all be open just like it was prior to the virus,” says Gov. Mike Dunleavy

The problem isn't Alaskan ports so much as Canadian ports required to keep the vast majority of Alaskan cruises legal.

Thanks for the info!  I have been following their reopening plan as well, knowing they were well into phase #2.  🙂

I have a back up plan for my (expected to be cancelled) B2B Radiance Alaska August cruise.  We are already doing a two week land tour on our own prior to the booked cruises.  Just waiting for RCI to cancel the two week cruise, then will be booking for that time at a cabin in Homer.

We ARE doing the Arctic though.  Have to drive to Fairbanks, taking a long drive with a day tour company up there to have pictures taken at the Arctic circle sign (DH's bucket list for his milestone birthday), then a float plane back to Fairbanks.

And the lifting of the 14 day quarantine for arriving tourists.

Very likely.   I don't expect Canada will be allowing cruise ships, but that doesn't change the desire for an official decision.

Royal has cancelled ALL July cruises.  Even August and later cruises to Alaska likely cancelled for a whole host of other reasons including border/port closures.  Princess, Carnival and HAL all cancelled their entire Alaska seasons earlier this month.  Don't know why Royal is keeping open other than to get more deposits/cash flow.

True, but Questions were asked 3 weeks. At that time most Cruise Lines inc Carnival Corp's were canceled only until May/June
