Next round of cancellations

I used the contact me button Thursday and someone said they heard back in about a week.

I got emails from 2 travel agent sites last week, only one of which I ever used, and both said something like due to heavy call column if I wanted service on a existing booking to leave a message and they would get back to me within 3 to 5 days lol.

It could be worse. At least I'm booked direct. Heck I'd have loved to lift and shift, was a totally awesome rate on liberty. They didnt have lift and shift then.

Maybe I'm the only one thought getting emails from travel sites that if I needed service would take 3 to 5 days to return my call.

I don't know but my big box TA is VERY responsive and I get immediate service.  As a matter of fact we are emailing back and forth as I type this😇

I'm hoping they are doing refunds in some kind of order. I'm waiting on fees and taxes from april 26 as are many others on my roll call. My roll call is still hanging together because of waiting on refunds.

Cancellations just mean you know... not that you will get refunds any time soon

You all have more patience than me.  I wouldn’t hesitate to do a chargeback.  It’s not acceptable to still be waiting for a refund from a cruise that would have already departed IMHO.

Cant for port fees and taxes. The other lady is waiting on same for april 20th. I got the fcc.

Cant do partial chargeback. Cant do lift and switch once you get fcc either.

It’s helpful, but that’s work.  Other than maybe a few dedicated people, most don’t have time to check and recheck looking for price drops.

Now that I am retired, checking for price drops is pretty much the only work I can do that sometimes results in compensation 😂

You can absolutely do a partial chargeback.

Agreed, and I recently cancelled one and booked another that was in group space via my travel agency. However, my other cruises weren’t booked in group space, and refundable deposit cost considerably more than with the nonrefundable deposit option.

If RCI cancels the cruise, you can get a full refund - even if your deposit was nonrefundable.

Question is, if booked via a TA, will they refund the full amount of take a "fee" out of the refund?

I worked disputes, you click in the entire charge. You maybe managed it. The credit card company issues a credit, and before the 90 days of dispute was over the merchant issued the refund.

It can work out, but not how you seem to think. I worked amex disputes before they outsourced it.

People get a credit from the credit card company and dont realize it's from the credit card company not the merchant. In fact if the charge was in the $50 to $100 range we just wrote it off as not being worth our time. I once got a error for not writing off a recurring charge and telling the merchant to stop billing.

You can call into the credit card company and dispute a partial amount.  I know how it works, yes the credit card company gives you the initial credit and the merchant has I believe 10 days to say they want to dispute and then up to 90 days to provide proof while you have a provisional credit.  It can absolutely be done and chargebacks are currently at an all time high because people don’t want to wait for their refunds.

I just got off the phone with cruise air (not a good experience). I was checking my flights on Delta and there were no reservations listed.  The woman from cruise air tried to convince me that they still existed.  After 20 minutes she said they did not exist and she needed to rebook flights, when questioned as to why when my June 12th cruise should be cancelled, she adamantly stated "this cruise is not cancelled."  When I indicated I cant leave the airport for 14 days, she stood firm that she needed to find me new flights at the same fare.  I tried to explain to her that my flights were not chosen for the fare, but by the date, time and convenience of a direct flight, yes it was double the price, but it was easier for me and my toddler. Well in the end I told her don't make any changes, keep my flights the way you saw them when I first called, I'll wait for royal to cancel my cruise.

We considered what you are wanting to do, then we just did the lift & shift to next year, got refunded the excursions and the one royal brunch thing we booked. So much better than waiting around for the line to cancel! Even if you got on the June 12th, it will be MISERABLE, believe me....

I just emailed my travel agent asking her to L&S my July 2020 cruise on Oasis to July 2021 on Symphony.  I hope it works.  The exact same Boardwalk Balcony stateroom is available as well.  I think, however, that our Dine Drink Discover promotion will not carry over although I asked my travel agent to inquire.

This may actually make it easier to sail all Oasis class ships.  Sailing on Oasis of the Seas isn't so difficult as it is in nearby New Jersey.

I just wish that Allure will be amp'd before my February 2021 cruise.  Doubtful.

EU entry ban extended until June 15th

The EU entry ban for non-essential trips is extended by 30 days – that is, until June 15, 2020. That curtails all unnecessary travel of people to Europe from third countries (i.e. all EU Member States, all members of Schengen and the U.K.). However, there are some exceptions. You can check here if you fall under one of the exception positions if you would like to travel to the Netherlands soon.

It's your money.  If you're too lazy to check once a week  after final payment is due up to 48 hours before embarkation to save money, that's  on you.  The other option is to pay off your cruise and wait for RCI to cancel so you get your full refund.   Or you could have booked a cruise with a refundable deposit and then gotten your deposit back before final was due.   Of course this is different if you booked a suite, but if you can afford a suite, you can afford to get the FCC for the NRD that goes  along with it.

We never have a choice of a refundable deposit. Everything we book requires NRD.

So then all you ever book are suites on RCI?  There are other options out there.  Haven on NCL....Yacht Club on MSC...

Your L&S should go through since they both include Coco  Cay.  You'll just have to fly to MIA instead of driving to Bayonne.

Oasis is listed as a 7 night Bahamas plus perfect day while Symphony is a 7 night Western plus perfect day...different itinerary types.  I have not read of anyone successfully switching an Oasis Bayonne to another Oasis class Caribbean itinerary.

You got that right.  Been looking every day/night for June 12 Brilliance to cancel.

Me too with my group O am escorting.  Delta cancelled our flight last week.  The hotel is not opened yer.  Wish Royal would think about their loyal cruisers for a change.  They are playing chicken again.  If we cancel then no refunds.  FCC only for 100%.  If they cancel you still get refund or 125% FCC.  Take the cash.  It is not worth the 25% of cruise fare ONLY.

JUST STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING RCI.

Still waiting for cancellation of Rhapsody of the Seas /6-13-20.

I’m booked on Rhapsody out of Venice (lol) on 6-27-20. I have been trying to be patient but it’s frustrating RCL still hasn’t canceled. At this rate I’ll be lucky to get a refund by fall.
