I agree and believe cruising will slowly phase in. Very few ships in the beginning phase. Maybe they will be Pinnacle only cruises. 😇

Pinnacle's would probably be the most likely to tolerate masks and a slew of "social distancing" restrictions.

Royal would love having "Pinnacle Only  Cruises"  for the start up cruises, it would thin out the herd of them after every sailing 😉  It would be like that song "99 Bottles of Beer"but change the words to "Pinanacle's on the gang plank"....

OMG, too funny 🙂

In the case of the forecasted Aug. 1 date that is just a soft date so as to not have to issue more refunds right now until more deposits are received from new bookings that can be used to payout the cancellations up to Aug. 1.

Perhaps initially they should only allow nationals of the home port to sail.  If cruising from Florida, only allow U.S. citizens to board.  If sailing from China, only allow Chinese to board, if cruising from Australia...  and so on.

That way if there is an issue at least there may be some willingness to allow guests to return to their home country.  That seemed to help when Florida's governor initially blocked ships from arriving.

"Regions including Asia and Europe -- which went through the virus first -- are now starting to resume a more normal life as North America still grapples with it."

All I can say is "Thank You Very Much"

We are from the UK and today the health secretary announced they have begun trials on a covid 19 swab test which will give a result in 20mins. If successful this type of test would be invaluable in getting the cruise industry ( and many others ) up and running again.

Suite and JS only first because the cost of these cabins make them very profitable for Royal  followed by all balcony cabins.

If you end up in quarantine at least you can sit on your balcony and get some sun and fresh air.

We are not sailing first few cruises out the door. Maybe they can upgrade Pinnacles by points up to fill the Suites. See, not bashing.

Next February is the earliest we have booked now.

Hopefully we can get into Florida for a hotel break in October.

That's the same time frame we're looking at.  We also have a condo on the beach in Florida booked for October.  Hopefully we'll be able to go.

Universal has submitted a plan to the Governor of Florida hoping to get approved to fully open June 5. No word yet from Disney other than Disney Springs opened yesterday.

Except for South Florida, beaches are open. Not sure what South Florida is up too.

Last 5 visits we have stayed at the Hilton Buenavistapalace because it has small balconies where we can sit and watch Magic Kingdom and Epcot fireworks and we can leave the car at the hotel and walk to Disney Springs in 10 minutes.

If cruising does start we might also fly back across for Thanksgiving and do a 3-4 night cruise from PC.

We go to Sanibel Island in southwest FL.  Hopefully they will be up and running by October.

We booked 8/3/20.  Cannot wait to be on a cruise again.  Going to CocoCay and Labadee.  Perfect

This will not happen unfortunately, Don't expect cruise out of the US before September or October earliest.

I believe in positive thinking.  until I am told otherwise I. Am.  Going!

There's a fine line between positive thinking and totally unrealistic expectations.  Look behind you, like a mile, you'll see you're WAAAY over that line.
