Am I crazy for doing this?

We have alot of Marriott points from my DH's travels. When we go to Aruba in April, our ship is there until 1 a.m. I thought it would be nice to have a place to cool off, shower, chill out, whatever. So I booked a room at the Marriott. Obviously, we won't stay overnight, but will be able to use the amenities. I've read on TripAdvisor that this is a wonderful hotel. I think we'll do Jolly Pirates first because we won't be able to check in to the Marriott until afternoon. What do you think?

I personally wouldn't "waste" my 25K - 35K points on a few hours of a room. The ships are docked so close to town, that I couldn't see doing it, but it's your vacation :) Whatever you decide, have a wonderful cruise!!

The cruise ships are docked just as close to everything as where the hotels are. In my opinion it would be a waste to get a hotel room. If you want to use the amenities like the pool or whatever then I'd check into a day pass, I think most of the cruise lines offer day passes to at least one of the "all-inclusive" resorts in Aruba in their excursion listings. As for the shower, air conditoning etc.... I'd just use the ship. You dock in Aruba, you don't have to tender in so all you have to do is walk on/off the ship. This is just my opinion though. The Jolly Roger pirate cruise picks you up literally right there at the cruise ship dock and it drops you off there too so if you are going to get the hotel you'd have to get a taxi to the hotel. There is a ton of shopping and even some casinos within walking distance of the ship.
