EZ Air pay in advance?

Tried to book ezair for a April 2021 Cruise. After selecting flights it wanted payment today.

 

1st time I have seen this. Is it a new policy?

You may have selected a "restricted" fare.  If you want to wait to pay choose "flexible"

 

Flexibility to Change Flights

Cancel flexible airfare up to 45 days prior to departure with no fees. Plus, book flights now with no amount due until cruise final payment.

If your cruise is complimentary through the Casino department, yes, payment is required as soon as you book your flight.   We ran into this when trying to book flights for our 2021 casino cruise and decided to wait a bit before booking flights.
