Hi All,  I'm curious, Has anyone ever gotten the "administrative fees" waived or taken off? I was thinking about calling just to see if it's possible but wanted to ask you guys first.  About a year ago I had to cancel and transfer from 1 cruise to another and received the $100 pp fee.  If it could be taken off that would be an extra $200 off the price so hey why not give it a try right LOL

no. this is standard and common with all early saver bookings. Early saver has a 50 dollar per person fee

if you do not want this in the future, then you will need to book a non-early saver fare code

Is it normal to be charged an administrative fee when you upgrade your cabin but stay on same cruise?  Booked casino rate.  If you upgrade your cabin again will you have to pay another admin fee?

Not sure what you are calling a administrative fee? Shof is talking about the penalty charged if you cancel. No idea what OP is calling a admin fee since she doesnt say.

There is no fee to upgrade or shouldnt be. Did you cancel one casino rate, and rebook another? Did you call in and they said this is the cost to upgrade? I cant think of why there would be a admin fee other than the cost to upgrade.

There is no fee to upgrade and never has been.

Hi

While I agree with the statement, I do believe that they only consider it an upgrade if costs you more.

Usually yes you pay more to upgrade, but I've had times where the price dropped and I could upgrade for nothing or as little as $10.  But yes it usually costs more to move to a higher category cabin, but I wouldn't call that a admin fee, agree.

I was under the same casino rate but wanted to change from a cove balcony to a premium balcony.  I was told it would cost $100 admin fee.  The admin fee shows on my booking.  Was considering changing to a Havana Balcony but not if I have to pay another $100 in addition to the price increase

never heard of an administrative fee for upgrading on the same cruise. It's usually only when switching ships AFAIK.

I've never heard of an admin fee for upgrading a cabin on the same cruise either.  I have done it many times.  Sometimes it has been free for me to change cabins to a different deck and other times the cost of the cabin was slightly higher.  But I've never heard of an admin fee for this.  Maybe this is new or I've never made a change that required this fee.

Probably because that's what Carnival calls it when it shows up on your new booking.

Sounds almost like they are treating the upgrade as a new booking. The casino rate is for a particular type of cabin so maybe that's why, idk.

We have had an admin fee when booking a casino rate. We’ve never been charged an additional admin fee if we chose to upgrade.

Did you book through a TA and the TA was charging you the admin fee?  I've upgraded MANY times, even on casino rates and have never had to pay an upgrade fee.

This was my thought.  Maybe the TA (if you used one) is charging you for having to call to make the changes.  I always booked with carnival and have never been charged an admin fee when doing an upgrade.  The only time I was charged was when I had to cancel a cruise and we did es.
