It was their very first attempt at this on a massive scale.

Hopefully they will work out the kinks. Perhaps limiting the number of participants would help.

I look forward to seeing more webinars.

Unless I’m mistaken, I believe this webinar initially began on an “invitation” basis. Celebrity would then have a better idea as to potential participants based on those invitations. Many Captain’s Club members did not receive this email invitation, and expressed their frustrations on these boards.

As a result, some posters actually shared their personal invitation particulars or the link to the Captain’s Club Power Up Points on the Celebrity website with other fellow cruisers who had not received the original email. This action was certainly meant to be helpful, however, it appears Celebrity’s registration process did not have a maximum number of participants built into it, and as such, that could certainly explain the larger than expected audience.

I  agree that Celebrity should learn from this experience. It’s not unusual for companies to review the good aspects and challenging aspects to any presentation. I have to believe that Celebrity will review last night’s presentation as any good company should, in hopes of becoming more comfortable with webinars in the future.

I'm so sorry to hear that so many had a bad experience with the webinar.

I hope that the 50 PUP's you receive will make up for any  inconvenience. 👍🏻

I am sure it will.   We are also receiving a copy of the video later and can watch again.  I work in technology and know having a large number of people of webinars can be problematic.   Celebrity, dont stop doing these!

The videos came through so good I propose this idea for future webinars. Record everything you want to say and just play the tape.

Poor Alex, hope he still has a job today😉 Seriously, I do realize these things are a nightmare to put on.

Well I was registered and had the link to join, but it would not let me in.  I tried for 10-15 minutes and finally gave up.  I've never had a problem with a Zoom call or webinar previously, so it wasn't on my end.  In fact I watched another webinar that evening.  I guess I won't get the PUPs.  There were MANY complaints on the platform we can't mention here of folks unable to get in to the webinar.  Pretty annoying.

It was by invitation, by which X may have been trying to limit the number of people who could register for the seminar. There were reports by some here on CC that when they tried to sign up they received a response that the webinar was “full”. Perhaps this was a result of those posters who shared their invitations.

Going forward, perhaps X could offer more than one webinar, per subject, to accommodate a larger amount of participants.

The email they just sent out addressed the concerns and the technical aspects that happened.  In general to many people trying to get on and so forth, which is what happens on things like this. Glad they addressed it quickly and didn't try to run from the issues.  Its all learning with the companies and dealing with technology along with new aspects of engaging there customers in this strange surreal time. Hopefully see more of these since they are really great intros to the different areas of the world cruising goes.  Yes repetitive to many but the companies do need to reach out to the broader audience and there current loyalty members for engagement.

letter below

Yesterday was our first live virtual event exclusively for Captain’s Club members all about the Galapagos Islands. There was so much interest that we maxed out bandwidth and were filled to capacity! Thank you for spending your time with us and allowing us to introduce you to the incredible beauty of this pristine archipelago.

We are very sorry for the technical issues we experienced. We conducted a dry run before the event and everything worked perfectly. We just did not expect such an overwhelming response. We had more than 3,000 members in attendance which caused some delays. We’ve recorded the webinar for you to view the videos that were shared if you’d like at the link below. If you tried but couldn’t get into the event, you’ll still receive 50 Power Up Points.

As Lisa and Susana both shared, the Galapagos Islands are truly magnificent and there is no better way to see them than with Celebrity Cruises. For almost any modern adventurer, a journey through time to the Galapagos is a dream vacation.

Lastly, be on the look-out for our next live virtual event invitation. Many of you have already asked us to do more of these. So we will! And we promise to have all the technical glitches worked out.

I got an email thanking me for attending the Webinar even though I was only able to attend part of it. They also apologized for the technical issues. So maybe I will get the points.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hopefully, everyone who received today's thank-you/sorry email should get points.

From the small print at the bottom of the email:

*Power Up Points: Captain’s Club Members receiving this email are eligible to receive 50 Power Up Points for attending the Loyalty Exclusive Galapagos Presentation which took place on 10/15/20 at 6pm ET. Power Up Points to be awarded once per eligible member. Power Up Points will be converted to Club Points at a ratio of 10 Power Up Points to 1 Club Point and will be added to the verified member’s Club Points balance within 14 days after the month’s end.

Well I guess that says it all. We are close to Zenith & have signed up for Power up Points more times than I can count but unfortunately we are also a computer nightmare with Celebrity that Miami has been working on for the last 2 years & has not been able to correct..  To the point that we were actually personally escorted on a ship because our Information was so mixed up.  We love cruising with Celebrity but I guess we should not hold our breath getting any points going forward.  We did sign up for the webinar & managed to watch it but never received anything today.  If it wasn’t for Cruise critic we would never find out about these good points.

Well, I didn't get the e-mail either, so I guess my chance of getting the PUPs is toast.  Very disappointing.

I was logged in ten minutes before it started and through the whole webinar.  I did not get the letter today.

There were three of us logged in under our own email addresses and watched the whole thing. Two of us got the email today and one did not.

Just to reiterate.....

If you attempted to log in and could not...if you did not receive an email today or if you simply did not have the most pleasant of experiences while attempting to watch the webinar....my recommendation is this......

Wait until mid November to see if you receive your 5 Captain’s Club points. If you do not see them credited, call Captain’s Club to see about having the oversight corrected.

If you need to place a call, when talking to Celebrity staff, please remember, “you will always attract more bees with honey than you will with vinegar”.

Parroting what some others have said.  No reason they should do a live zoom call as they're not interacting with customers.  Record a zoom call between the speakers only, add the port videos and that would solve a lot of technical issues.  As far as content, there's lot of room for improvement and I believe the whole presentation should be compressed to 15min overview with the option to view additional video for a deeper dive on specific content.

We have sailed on X so are members of the Cptn Club but we don’t get newsletters.  Is there something we need to do or a place where we have to sign up for this?

We get an occasional email re PUP but from this thread it seems we get far fewer than other and I don’t know why - very frustrating.  Maybe if we can get the newsletter we will have access to more of them.

The presentation could be done professionally and they could have streamed it live or prerecorded with no technical difficulties. They used a video conferencing platform so they could register the viewers. The problem was the the video conferencing platform they used. They underestimated the bandwidth they needed for the amount of participants they invited. They could solve that. Purchase more bandwidth or invite fewer for the event.

I think you will get them anyway.

When you logged into the webinar, it just asked for the webinar id.   They would not know who was in and who was not able to get in.

Hubby and I  both logged in through our email invitations, but no ID or information was requested when we logged in. We stayed with the seminar until they said their goodbyes. We received no follow-up emails, but I will certainly call if we do not get the points.
