blizzardboy Posted June 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2020 I was just nosing around on an on-line antique auction and spotted a lot of five Delft tile coasters: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/86066182_lot-of-five-delft-tile-coasters
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2020 I loved the old ones showing all the Dutch people.
DFD1 Posted June 14, 2020 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2020 There are some nice older ones in your pictures. I see them often for sale on EBay and I found 8 quite by accident in a small antique shop in Winter Haven Fl, where I live, a couple of years ago. I think they were $10.00 for the 8...very good value for a collector. I bought them. We rarely go to the Mariner's luncheon on board anymore so I have not gotten any of the new ones in quite some time. We are 4 star and will never live to be 5 star...not that it matters.

We made 5 Star late last year but have yet to sail as one. Have cancelled three cruises since making 5 Star!!

We've done that a couple of cruises when we were unable to or just did not want to attend the Mariners lunches. In the afternoon of the lunch, we would just stop by and ask for them and they would appear with our night mail delivery/turn down by our room steward.
Copper10-8 Posted June 14, 2020 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2020 They - the "tegels" or tiles - are always on eBay, some quite cheap, others the victims of highway robbery as a result of what their "owners" dare to ask for them. The most recent two years (2017-2018 & 2019) of 'Prinsendam' are playing hard to get more than likely because the 'elegant explorer' left the fleet in 2019
JeffElizabeth Posted June 14, 2020 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2020 We got the final tiles from the Prinsendam and use them on our desks. We need to find our other ones. I would love to auction them off. Let cruise people complete their collections.
DFD1 Posted June 14, 2020 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2020 Have not bought any tiles from Ebay, but I did buy a Maasdam Inaugural plate on Ebay after we'd sailed on her half a dozen times. All of these things are about good memories and we have many of those surrounding our HAL cruises over the years.
