What a governor!  How can he put so many peoples lives in jeopardy.  In addition, to close down a second time might be so much worse for the economy.  Big Mistake.  I hope that the cruise industry does not go under.  I have read that some companies, including celebrity are selling off ships.  So sad.

Very interesting.  Pretty much everything people have been speculating about.   Kudos to Costa for communicating this stating it's subject to change.   It signals to me that people who say they won't sail if they have to wear a mask should make other plans if their sailing is in the near time future.

 

My concern is will they tolerate the bad behaviors we have seen locally.  Historically Celebrity has not enforced many of their rules as to not upset passengers.  In this case their entire business depends on this working.  I'd make people sign a contract that they read and understand the "rules".  Non compliance should result in immediate isolation and subsequent disembarkation.

 

All that said I'm not sure if I'd sail under these conditions, however if I choose to I'd comply with all the rules.

 

After all it's our lives and RCL's business at stake.

And that was a limited capacity reopening. A reduced passenger load aboard cruise ships will be of little benefit without a good many other measures being instituted.

I was watching CNBC yesterday and saw the interview with the Carnival CEO. I would have wanted him to be asked what steps are they looking at on-board their ships for social distancing. Will they configure their dining rooms as we all know how tight the space is between dining tables. What other steps are they working on, as they now have time on their hands to do this while everything is in limbo.

This is what bugs me about the lack of communication.  I know obviously everything is not yet worked out, and certainly not a firm restart date.  But you can't tell me they don't already have a really good idea about many of these types of changes.  They just don't want to start telling us anything because they know many people will not like the changes and then will not book.  They'd rather spring the changes on you after they have your money in their hands.  Some will say they should wait until everything is all finalized as it would be too hard to control the narrative if things change.  I disagree with that in the sense that there is much that is very unlikely to change.  There is no reason they couldn't give us SOME information about what the future of cruises might be.  They could couch it with all kinds of caveats and 'not locked in granite' statements that the majority of us cruisers, having some intelligence, could handle.

Everyone is anxious to hear what plans X will have in place when they welcome back cruisers, me  included! 😊

IMO, X will do most, if not all, of the things that Costa has outlined in their proposed plans, which seem very comprehensive and follow standard guidelines that have been proposed by the CDC for land based businesses.

I'm sure X has been working diligently on their plan for some time now. It doesn’t behoove them to rush to publish something, “with all kinds of caveats”, that would inevitably just provoke many to complain about the constantly changing rules.

You are correct, there will be changes coming that many will object to, but the consequence of that may be that they will cancel their existing reservations rather than not booking future cruises. In this case it is a no win situation for X.

I, for one, will choose to cruise whatever X's plan ends up being. I anticipated the mask requirement and ordered special ones for our upcoming cruise. 😊

More positive cases among young and healthy - more immune people. Older people - protect yourself.

Number of hospitalized sick is the number to watch and not how many people tested positive. By now everyone knows how to protect yourself and your family and less listen to the media and politicians, who are enjoying telling  us what to do.

Sorry, but this is not quite correct.

 

The abbreviation, "RCI," stands for Royal Caribbean International -- which does not "own Celebrity."

 

RCI, Celebrity, and Azamara are sister lines fully controlled by the umbrella/parent "holding company" named "Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited" (abbreviated RCCL, not RCI).  RCCL will probably allow each of these lines to make its own separate announcement (unfortunately, in our opinion).

 

RCCL also holds "a 67% stake in Silversea Cruises, a 50% stake in TUI Cruises, and a 49% stake in Pullmantur Cruises."

The fact remains they are USA owned and your comment that safety guidelines published will only be for Italians out of Italy is basically a load of crap
