Change to Quarantine Requirement with Negative COVID Test Result

As of August 1, visitors who provide a negative test result up to 72 hours prior to arrival will not be required to self quarantine for 14 days.

So how does that help a cruise passenger who leaves LA, etc 5 days before arriving in HI?

I did not claim such.  My post is merely a link to evolving environment.

But then again not all cruises visiting the Hawaiian Islands depart from the West Coast.  One ship, to my knowledge, departs from Honolulu, if and when it is allowed to sail with paying passengers.

While it's encouraging that the 14 day quarantine requirement now has a reasonable work around with the negative test, it's not like even the inter island cruise on Pride of America is coming back any time soon. While you can visit the islands starting in August, the ship itself is a prime environment for the virus to spread in. I can't see them giving the green light on that right away.

I don't see the POA sailing anytime soon.

The Pride of America is an NCL ship, and cruises for all of their ships for August and most/perhaps all of September have been cancelled by them.

I've been waiting for a change and a safe heath option for Hawaii.    I travel there a couple times every year,  so ,  looking for another trip.   Of course,  their quarantine was strict and it's not ideal for a visitor.

I'm heading to Alaska in August,  and will consider a September trip to wonderful Hawaii.   🙂
