Glad I booked three 2021 cruises... I think.

Recommended Posts

Glad I booked three 2021 cruises in January before the Covid as appears the 2021 prices will increase.  We also had three 2020 cruises, but were cancelled by Carnival April 1. Still working through those refunds.

I see the prices of the equivalent 2021 cruises to my 2020 cruises that got cancelled are about 30% more expensive.  My 2021 cruises I booked in January are still relatively the same price.  However, I don't see any $100 OBC's being offered on the 2021 cruises.  I'm in a wait and see mode for the 2021 cruises.

Interesting time.

I'm seeing the same thing when I check to see if I want to rebook my soon-to-be-cancelled cruise.  And room choice is getting slim.  I don't blame the cruise lines though, especially since they need to make some of this money back that they're losing.  It's good that demand is there.  But with the higher prices,  it may be a while before I cruise as often as I used to.  On a lark I took advantage of a Black Friday deal for Fall 2021 on the Mardi Gras.  That may be it for quite a while.

I thought cruises I had booked for 2021 were nothing to worry about, but with every passing day I get more concerned they might be in jeopardy, especially the ones in January and February.

I love reading about other people's booked 2021 cruises.  Gives me hope for ours in March, 2021.

Hi

I find myself continually doing the same thing. I keep getting nice offers from all the cruise lines, so I have to look, after all I am hooked like the rest of you.

I haven't done anything for now and considering the uncertainty with closed borders, there just would be no point.

Yesterday, because of someone's post on this site, I started looking at some well priced cruises from Australia, for 2022. Surely, I thought, by then this virus wouldn't be the concern it is now. Then I came back to reality. The cruise will only happen if the cruise lines are still operating.

Just like many other things these days, there are too many "if's" that need to happen before I can go on a cruise. So what if it will cost me more by waiting. At least I will have a better idea of what I am buying.

I totally get it.  The uncertainty of the state of the industry and the over all quality of the product when cruising resumes is just maddening!  We made a small deposit on our March 2021 after we did a L&S to a different cruise in March of 2022.  My rationale is that I would really like to cruise in March but I'm not going to sink a lot of cash into final payment when nobody knows if March 2021 is a go.  The cruise we did the L&S to 2022 is substantially more money than the new one I booked (on a different line) for 2021.  The thing is though, I know in my heart of hearts, we likely won't do the 2022.  It's on the Connie and it won't have had its refurb like it was supposed to before the pandemic and I really don't want to pay for the Royal Suite experience on a ship that needs a rehab.  Rather than worry about that now, I pushed it back for later.

I'm so over the wait and see game!

I put a deposit on a January cruise before my September cruise was cancelled and got an excellent casino rate.  The least expensive balcony cabin I have ever had.  I know many people get better offers, but it's the best offer I have ever had.  Anyway, when my September cruise was cancelled I rolled it into my January cruise.  Hopefully, it happens.  I'm really glad I was able to get such a great rate. It was so good that even after rolling everything to the new cruise, I will still get nearly $1,000 refund from my cancelled September cruise.

Mine have plummeted in price. My Princess one is starting to go back up but I just saved $2,000 within the past 48 hours on my Royal Cruise — on top of other significant drops.

Looking at the prices for very limited 2023 Carnival cruises, the prices seem higher than for equivalent in 2022.

My experience checking other cruise line prices (mainly RCI and Celebrity) show future prices are dropping, at least in 2021, which is what I have been looking at lately. I have not noticed any increases on Carnival prices next year, but I am only looking at a few ships.

I got a Black Friday deal for Alaska in September 2020.  Once it cancelled I contacted a CSR to rebook and it's going to cost me about $1200 more (due to the great Black Friday deal).  CSR told me that since my payment isn't due until June 2021, not to pay anything and when new promos come out, he will be able to apply them and SHOULD be able to get the price down to close to what I already paid for it.  Fingers crossed.
