I received an email two days ago from Royal Caribbean reminding me that I had two things left in my cart that I should pay for, on my cancelled August cruise.  Today I got an email saying they were sending me a refund of $0 for those items.  I think all of the comments about the bad IT departments just might be correct!

I have three cabins booked on the Vista in October and also have had several emails and texts regarding the final payment due soon.

We probably will not be going if it sails, but we are hanging on before actually canceling as long as possible so that we don't lose the deposits in the hope that Carnival cancels first! It is a cat and mouse game.

I am booked on the October 10th cruise, Carnival Breeze final payment is due July 12th. They are emailing me everyday reminding me to pay it off.  So annoying especially considering how long a refund is taking if they cancel.

As am I.  I have the 2 EXACT cabins I want, which is why I booked this almost 2 years ago.  And I really don't want to rebook if I can't have the same 2 cabins.  Sound petty, maybe it is, but I have valid reasons.

I think they will announce by end of July/ beginning of August, just after CDC 100 day no sail order ends on July 24th, but I think they will extend it..

Jeesh, you'd think they'd have a way to turn off the automated messages for specific time periods.

I don't want to think it, but many think there will be no cruises for the rest of the year.......*sob*

Doesn't sound petty to me.  I have areas I want and at times even a very limited number of cabins within that area.

My personal record has been booking 752 days out for the Carnival Sailabration cruise.  I've booked more than 500 days out several times to get the cabin, itinerary, and ship I want.

Drives my TA crazy.

You just repeated more or less what I said. Posting here on cruise critic you wish others had taken it as seriously.... doesnt make people wear masks, maybe start a blog. You cant influence real life as you seem to want to posting here.

I posted I dont expect my cruise to go. I have said I even booked a cruise to get to rebook with the $600 obc. What dont you understand that you quote me? As if I'm wrong saying i dont expect the cruise to go, and dont know when they cant be booked probably cancelled. I tried to book oct 11th, so i could get a b2b with $600 obc twice. My choice. Only have the one on ccl

Have 5 on rcl. They allow cancel within 48 hours and lift and shift. Lifted two to March 2022. I have one booked jan 2021 I plan on lifting, just havent decided what date. Dec 12 2021 earliest date allowed.

As I remember you said you are booked next summer yet quote me on what I said as if you dont think I get it?  Why did you book if you believe what you say?

Yes, I tried to book another 7 day on carnival, but decided to let it go. Rcl has much better prices and more flexible terms. Maybe you would be happier with rcl with it's more flexible terms. You act like people here on carnival dont get it. Some of us just more positive than others about life. That we will survive this. Your glass always sounds half empty.

If you dont want me to reply dont quote me.

Vista and freedom are both sold out for oct according to a travel site I called. Out of Galveston.

My booking for freedom oct 4th is still a go he tells me. ... though I doubt it. Just sold out.

I was agreeing with you.....you doubted your sailing was going to happen.  And I agreed...sorry you took it the wrong way.

I was directing "sold out" and "limited capacity" to Carnival.

Carnival knows well before an announcement what that announcement will be.

Carnival is a business...not your friend. (Again...not directed at you....directed to everyone).

You have successfully described every business ever 😉

Pretty much. This isn't exclusive to Carnival or cruising. The Saints are holding a lot of my money for games that may not be played...and if they are probably won't be played in front of fans.

I have wondered how the sail with reduced capacity would work. I am booked in October on the Breeze for Halloween. Booked Feb. 2019. It was about sold out before CoVid hit so don't really see how they would reduce capacity. I would imagine a bunch would be this way especially the cruises on holidays i.e. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

One possibility for reducing number of passengers is to not re-sell cabins that people cancel. Final payment date will see many cancelling and others will cancel out of fear. Might not get them to numbers they want but it will help.

And for those annoyed by final payment reminder emails. I have had that be a part of cruising for 20 years. 🙂

I reported it. I only did that because this isn't the first time a thread has popped up with "All October cruises are cancelled," when it wasn't true. I have an October cruise and I'd rather read a FACTUAL account of a cancellation on CC than yet another post full of wrong information.

The "sold out" category....historically on Carnival...since Covid....means the cruise will be canceled.

Very early this morning there was a notice on the Carnival website that said something like "Cruises that are shown as available are actually not available".  That notice is now gone so I cannot post it.

Disclaimer before I get flamed and insulted:  Like everyone here, I really want (and need) to get back onboard a ship.  When I post "negatively" it's based on an educated opinion and educated opinions of others that I know, not what I want.  Based on something I heard this morning from a reliable source....I doubt ships will sail in 2020.  Again....this is being rational and objective.

I really wish "others" had taken covid as seriously as I did from Day 1.....and we'd all be in a better place.

I agree!!!

I agree with Mouche!

Lets face the current facts.  Florida's Covid numbers are on the rise which is where most cruisers sail from.  The entire country is still at risk and I also think that cruising will not resume in October or for the rest of the year.

When cruising returns, I do not want to be the first to board any ship.  Imagine being quarantined on a cruise ship stuck in your cabin for two weeks.

Most Americans have compromised health conditions which places them at a greater risk.  Now Covid is taking peoples lives of those that are healthy.

I will thrive from my memories and hope for cruising to begin when it is really safe for us all without having to wear a mask.

When cruising returns there won’t be any quarantining on ships. We have more testing now than we did in March. We’ll have even more by then.
