and from AIDA

"Unfortunately, we therefore have to cancel the planned short trips with AIDAperla and AIDAmar with departure dates between August 5 and 12, 2020."

The selected quote you provided led me to believe these cruises were canceled due to COVID being on board. Reading the article tells me it's due to Italy not yet approving cruise ship visits.

AIDA crew did have the virus

"And last week, AIDA Cruises announced that 10 crew members received positive test results while isolated on board two ships before they were scheduled to set sail."

Unfortunately, I expect to read many more stories such as that one before the virus has run it's course.

And has already stopped.  Took it almost no time for Covid to win this battle.

Pax? or Total?   Surely even 100 pax would be uneconomic for anyone.

Does not mention only passengers. The quote from the SMH is:

"Norway will stop all cruise ships with more than 100 people on board from disembarking at Norwegian ports in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19 on a Hurtigruten cruise ship, the Norwegian Health Minister said on Monday.

The new rules will initially apply for 14 days, Bent Hoie said. They will not apply to domestic or international ferry traffic. Norway has ferry connections to Germany and Denmark, among others."

I can only think that the folks who would take a trip right now did not get put off a ship in Argentina on March 19th(The Coral Princess) and quite possibly get on the next to the last flight back to the United States on March 20th. Police escort to the airport, hundred + folks all sleeping on the floor, very small venue to eat, and so much stress. Yes, we did and while not being able to sleep for 4 nights after we got home, coming home was still the greatest thing in the world. So, if you do go, just hope you can return.

We didn't chance going to the airport, since they told us all day long we need at least 3 hours to get to the airport to catch our flights and then called us to "go" an hour and a half before our flight was due to leave. Nope! Not gonna do it!  We stayed on until the end on our "cruise to nowhere"!

Americans are to diseased to be on cruise ships. Almost no state has a less then 5% positive rate. European countries understood the virus, America has not.

I must be missing something, it happens. Europe from start to finish just never did get it.

West Virginia we don't want you here, please stay out you never have to concern yourself with me showing back up anywhere in Europe, we don't want anyone coming to West Virginia.

In the meantime I'll be on the Enchanted Princess fall 2021, for 20 days hopefully catch up with you then. 😉😊Nighty night Todd

Probably all that pollution in West Virginia. I know no one that wants to go to West Virginia. I know people that have left West Virginia and moved elsewhere because is so bad there. Definitely not a place you would want to partake of boat related activities.

Actually, West Virginia has some very nice areas to live in. For 23 years I lived in Kanawha County, like living in a suburb and only 2.5 miles from the heart of downtown of it's largest city.  Clean air. Friendly people. Good schools.

I do not know in what part of WV TTEllis lives, but I bet it is just as nice.

Every country-state-province probably has nice areas, not so nice areas and bad areas. I think this is not the place to argue whose place is nicest/worst etc. I also think that most people find the place where they live the best (otherwise they probably would not live there). No need to bash each others place. Let's keep it civilized shall we.

My original post may have seem to severe. What I am trying to say, until world positive test get below 5% for several months, there be no safe cursing. The situation is changing on a daily basis. The US is a long(many months) away from 5% criteria.

many Europe countries are near 5%. It will take several months for a good vaccine to be given to 70% of the world.

Crew members are people! And they can catch and spread Covid 19.
