my kids mama Posted September 1, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Received a casino deal with drinks on us anywhere on the ship. Usually, we get the cheers program. What if my husband still wants to get the cheers program. Anyone know how that is handled when I am being offered "cheers" at no charge. Will they still make me purchase it if he gets it? If that is the case, we won't be getting cheers for him. Never been offered this in a deal before.

As I understand it, if you all are in the same cabin, and he wants to get the cheers package, you have to purchase it as well. It's stated in the 'cheers' FAQ's on Carnival's website. I'd suggest you call Carnival to ease your mind. https://www.carnival.com/help/1106

Drinks on Us is totally different and you have to play a certain amount in the casino before you qualify for DOU. Usually DOU drinks are only available in the casino if you're playing, but they have done a couple of promotions that extend that to drinks anywhere on the ship. But you still have to qualify first. I'm not sure what happens though if you and your husband buy Cheers up front and then you qualify for the DOU program. Perhaps if that happens, they would refund the prorated amount of just your Cheers package starting the date you qualify for DOU?? That would be a question for Carnival. Denverdonkeys Posted September 1, 2020 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Some people get promotions with the Drinks of Us without qualifying during the cruise. They get it day 1. Sometimes that Drinks on Us is for everywhere in the ship, essentially CHEERS! for that player. I have read of people talking to the Casino helpdesk about how to get this applied. If you call generic Carnival, they probably won't know anything since it is a Casino promotion and offered through a different entity. I think your best option is to talk to them when you board and get your husband's cheers, because I suspect the online order will not see your offer and force you to prepay for it. Harder to get a refund than to get them to only charge you for your husband. Unfortunately you won't get the prepay discount then.

mkcurran Posted September 1, 2020 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Nice offer! Did you get a number to call with it? I'm guessing if you ask they will either comp your husband's drinks as well or add in a charge to cover him only.

I will ask. The worst that can happen is that they say no, right?

Moviela Posted September 1, 2020 #12 Share Posted September 1, 2020 My offers always include drinks on us, and a card is in a package in the room when we board. Elite casino offers usually say: Free Drinks On Us everywhere on board the ship for you and one travel companion. Terms apply The list of Elite benefits is extensive. Ryanryanryan Posted September 1, 2020 #13 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Thanks for posting this. I just checked my offers and can get a free interior cabin and $400 onboard credit for the Breeze on NYE! Even though I don't think there will be any cruises out of the USA in 2020 I still booked this free cruise because I'll get a $600 credit if it doesn't sail.

My cruise is supposed to happen at the end of January, we may not be going either. I also booked one for January 2022 that starts in Sydney Australia. The flight will be costly, I'm sure. Same deal as this one though, with free drinks everywhere on the ship, free ocean view, $500 to play with in the casino. Austrailian dollar, but still a fun offer.

hurricane0226 Posted September 1, 2020 #17 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Hi, We received the same offer, looking to cruise Nov 21st, if it does not happen, then we will get the FC credit and book at a later time. My wife has the drinks anywhere on the ship on her offer, and mine is in the Casino DOU card, so guess that is how they will do it.
lazydayz Posted September 2, 2020 #18 Share Posted September 2, 2020 I have only gotten a few offers for Free Drinks Everywhere but they have all said for two. I would hope they would not require you to buy Cheers if your husband does. You essentially already have it. I would wait on his until I spoke with the onboard casino host. Good luck. No, they don't refund Cheers if you qualify onboard for a casino DOU. Two different programs and many people get both even though you are still capped at 15 alcoholic drinks

my kids mama Posted September 2, 2020 Author #21 Share Posted September 2, 2020 I called and spoke with someone from the casino. They told me if we purchase cheers for my husband, I would have to buy it too. We won't be buying cheers for him. We have $400 on board credit. We will just use that to pay for his drinks. Maybe I will give him one of mine occasionally. We can also bring on 2 bottles of wine. I will still ask the casino host if they will comp his drinks when we get on the ship. He doesn't gamble though, so they may say no. Either way, it's a great deal for a cruise. I even found a pretty decent deal on a flight with southwest, so no worries about losing out if we have to cancel.
