Nov-Feb sailings

My November 12 cruise on Paradise was cancelled. They said due to it going into dry dock.  They couldn't have sent it to dry dock sometime since last Mar, til now?  This affected 3 maybe 4 ships. Sorry, I can't remember which other ships were also cancelled.  I am disappointed, But,

The good news is I was able to take a FCC credit, and book for Feb 2021.   Carnival gave me $300 OBC, along with the FCC.

Plus, I booked the new cruise through a casino offer, which gave me an additional $500 OBC. I'm very happy.  Just have to keep fingers crossed that by Feb, we will surely be up and cruising.

Well, not really. Other locations where they do drydocks (Bahamas, Cadiz etc) also we’re shut down for Covid... not like they could “pop in for a touch up” whenever they wanted. Plus how would they get all the workers/contractors there? They could not even get crew members off the ship to fly home. They stopped the Radiance retrofit dead in its tracks in Cadiz when this hit if you recall!

Apparently some big CDC meeting/news today. Although CDC appears to flip flop every other day. And yet cruise lines receive guidelines from the CDC. So much drama.

They probably won't commit to anything except maybe extend the no sail for 30 days which in reality doesn't change anything and the cruise lines can still continue their plans for November.

I believe that if no sail order goes thru 10/31. They won’t sail until Dec. 30 days from No Sail expiring in case it is extended again.

A no sail order of a month doesn't prevent the cruise lines from implementing their plans for a restart and the extension would only be done to ensure that the protocols are implemented.

Some of us also have passed the due date and just paid it and crossed our fingers.

I feel your pain! 😞  Hubby and I will need to make a decision re: our December cruise in the next couple of days, especially if there's no new announcements from CCL by tomorrow.   If our sailing isn't cancelled, I'll catch all kinds of you-know-what from my employer if I go on a cruise right now.  Quarantine, testing.....ugh!  But I could certainly have worse problems for sure.  So ready for all of this to improve, but it may be a while.

They have to get approval to get ready for cruises first .  It’s not like your restaurant.  They have procedures.   I’m

They won't let expire/lift until the cruise lines are approved to sail with all the new protocols and once its done they will resume sailing quickly after that.

Fact:  They have till Sept 30th 11:59 pm EDT to decide to extend the no sail order...........  Probably we will know in a few days or so..

Fact: At this current time, the No Sail Order expires in six days and has not been extended.

They can institute a newer No Sail Order should they wish even after September 30. There is no deadline and they can make this decision whenever they please.

Is it true that Carnival just announced that they will not restart sailing until the Spring 2021.

Nope

Simply untrue.

Some ships may not resume until Spring but Carnival remains confident that many will be sailing as early as November.

The question was did Carnival JUST announce no sailings until spring 2021 which I answered no. The revised sailings have been up for awhile.

Yeah- the previous poster's question simply has no truth to it: "Is it true that Carnival just announced that they will not restart sailing until the Spring 2021."

I don’t think that is a fact. The CDC could let the no sail order expire and then implement a no sail order at any time in the future. The CDC isn’t under the gun to make a decision soon since CLIA has voluntarily suspended all cruises from the US thru the month of October.

I think the CDC will follow the need to be done one way or the other by 9/30. To let it expire and then reinstate is wreckless unless sailing happen and covid break outs happen.

If the CDC were to let the current No Sail Order expire, and then re-instate another one shortly thereafter, there would blood-curdling howls from everywhere.  It would be the ultimate "CDC is clueless" move, IMHO.

If they let cruising resume, and things go south, and they re-instate a No Sail Order, that would be understandable.  Much like the new round of lockdowns in Europe (and the UK, because Brexit means the UK isn't part of Europe, right?  😉)
