CMV ships to be auctioned off

Recommended Posts

Was just listening to one of the guys who does cruise news online. He was saying that their are  some interesting talk  about Carnival putting in a bid on the Magellan ,Columbus and Vasco de Gama and reselling them back to CVI. Would be an interesting scenario.

Vasco da Gama has apparently been bought by Mystic Investments and is feted for the German and British markets. The sum paid is said to be around €9.5 million. The new owner, who seems to be a Portuguese entrepreneur, owns a couple of smaller ships as well as two River-cruise lines.

I believe Astor and Vasco da Gama have a good chance to find other operators, possibly Columbus although less likely.

Unlikely for Marco Polo and Magellan to avoid the breakers.

Columbus was sold to an unknown Turkish buyer  who plans to not operate the ship and keep it laid up and may resell it to secondhand market or scrap it.

Let's hope she has some more cruising days ahead of her. It would be a travesty if she was scrapped.

It Appears Seajets is acquiring more ships. They have bought the Pacific Aria,Magellan and The Columbus. What an interesting turn of events as Columbus was earlier reported to be sold to Turkish interests. Now Seajets has 6 ex cruise ships All former Carnival Group ships.

It will be interesting to see what Seajets business plan unfolds to be.

Entering the cruise market with six ships will be a challenge.

JMO but operating the three ex-HAL sisters would be more logical and far simpler to market than the disjointed fleet they acquired.

But it’s their money.........

Its possible they are an asset play maybe to Charter out when the pandemic improves would be logical. For the price they probably got them for could be a smart move. And I wonder if CVI will be talkin to Seajets about a long term charter on one or more ships.

Aegean Majesty (ex Veendam) is booked 2021 3 times in Lerwick (2 times from Amsterdam coming).

Maybe this could be a ship for CVI?

Yeah its gonna be interesting to see what ship CVI starts with then build on from their. I would think Seajets would be a good company to turn to for Charter purposes!

Astor arrived at Aliaga  this morning and is at anchor awaiting beaching.

Strange she goes to Aliaga right away yet Marella's 2 ships and Horizon are waiting at Eleusis Greece in Cold lay up.
