For Sale? But which of the 7 is this?

I know they say that every ship is always 'for sale' but I was surprised to see this on a 'cruise ships for sale site'. The photos could be old and they have done their best to disguise the ship but an eagle eye might suggest it is an Oceania ship? (pre face lift. obviously)

The only Renaissance ship built in 2001 is now the Azamara Pusuit.

Oceania's 4 "R" class ships are:

Name:            Date Built    Built as       Date Refurnished

                Regatta            1998              R 2                       2019

                Insignia            1998              R 1                       2018

                Sirena               1999              R 4                       2019

               Nautica              2000             R 5              due to be in 2020

All 3 of Oceania's  refurnished ships have a Gray Cabin color theme.

The ship for sale may be  the Azamara Journey (R 8)  built  in 2001.

Your first and last sentences conflict. R8 is the Azamara Pursuit. Azamara Journey is R6. As you said in your opening sentence the Azamara Pursuit is the only R ship built in 2001.

Pacific Princess is up for sale   also

But  probably the Pursuit   as I do not see  a casino  they took out the casino when it was Adonia  I believe

+1

Looks more and more to me like RCCL is getting ready to pull the plug.

They gave it a good run and a long leash, anyway...

Could even be an Oceania ship.

Photos are stock photos and do not represent either Princess or Azamara ships as they are now.  I would most likely think it is a Princess ship (even with the date misrepresented since the photos are), as Azamara invested a boat load of money into the Adonia, and it looks better than the Oceania R ships.

Well I must admit I had plumped for Oceania because I thought I had spotted an OLife poster in the photo taken outside the spa entrance (I think). But closer inspection of the blurred enlarged photo suggests I'm wrong. (Eyes aren't quite what they used to be...☹️🙄)

I hope it isn't an Oceania ship!

Is it for certain that the images are from the actual ship that is on the market?

The image of the gift store isn't something I remember on any of O's R ships (it is much bigger than it is on O's R ships that I have been on - been on all of O's R ships except for Sirena).

There's also this which matches the sofa and cushions:

If so and if she is in the same shape as the Ocean Princess was before she became Sirena, then there will be lots of extra cost to make her "pretty" again.

My money is on Pacific Princess. Sure looks like a Princess logo on the paper lying on the bed.

If the brochure statement that the ship was built in 2001 is correct it can't be the Pacific Princess, which was launched in 1999 as R Three. The only R ship launched in 2001 was R Eight, which is the current Azamara Pursuit, which had at one time sailed as Royal Princess. That could explain some of the apparent Princess-like decor in the photos, which may have been taken before Azamara bought her.

PS: This summary cover page of the ships that agency has for sale stats the ship is located in Glasgow, Scotland...not in the US as the detail page states. It just so happens that all three Azamara ships are currently docked in Glasgow.

I think all the R ships had the same fabric  on sofas  etc..

Princess  may not have changed  any of that

But  if the photos are of the actual ship for sale   notice no casino

Pursuit & Quest  lost the casino

My bet is with Azamara Pursuit

I'm fairly certain it is not the Journey. We have sailed her several times and these pictures, although dated, are not her.

The Pursuit is the newest redo in the fleet and really should come with a higher price tag.

FYI Azamara lists their capacity at either 684 or 690 ish not 700+.

Interesting..........................

Not sure, but it could well be an old photo. It looks like P and O’s Adonia,( yellow funnel) before it was sold to Azamara as Pursuit. Also having looked at Deck picture, there is a lot of AstroTurf, which Azamara had to remove. Also luggage bed cover is P and O.

You are correct.  I forgot the P&O yellow funnel !!

But the ship looks so nice now...

A phone call to their office in Dania Beach Florida could provide the answer.

I agree, even if they have the "year built" wrong in the listing.  Given CCL's desire to downsize the fleet Pacific Princess doesn't seem like she fits anymore.

I had wondered about this. And as a parallel bit of fun wondered who, here, was most qualified and able to pull off an 'I'm interested in buying one of your ships' conversation.

My suggestion - among many clearly able contenders - would be Stan and Jim!

Once again...and for the last time...the ship that's for sale is docked in Glasgow and was built in 2001. Further as others have noted the funnel is sporting P&O colors. All that adds up to the Azamara Pursuit, which is docked in Glasgow, was launched in 2001 and was purchased from P&O.

i comparison, the Pacific Princess is anchored near Civitavecchia and was launched in 1999.

Did I understand you correctly?   That you think RCCL is going to end its Azamara line?   Can you share what you base that on?

There has been speculation for  a while that the 3 Azamara ships would be folded into the Silverseas line but I don't see that. I love Azamara but it is not a luxury brand. The cabins are too small in the inside, oceanview and veranda cabins (up to the penthouse category.)

The crews could definitely sail in the luxury category however.

Who knows what will eventually happen but the way things are now I doubt if any cruise ship is marketable.

Let the conjectures continue!!!!!

RCCL has been waiting for a number of years for Azamara to make them some money,  unfortunately, their ROA has never been better than dismal.

Factor in that no Azamara newbuild has ever been on the horizon and it seems to me that the handwriting is on the wall.
