Where in the world is HAL?

OK, you've stumped me.  At first it looked a little like a Spanish port, such as Cartagena, but I have no memory of those steel girder towers anywhere.

You're actually pretty close Mustang 😉

But, on the subject of Ryndam, where the heck was she moored in this shot?

My two cents are on Central America and that's not a very aesthetically pleasing port  😵

It definitely was not an appealing moorage, but the usual cruise ship dock was full that day.  Here is a shot of the ship taken from different viewpoint.

Where is the Volendam?  When we were there, not many if any ships, went there.  Now, 18 years later, I believe ships call here.Broome.JPG.d54bac6c0b9ee2e162ac37b972a7423a.JPG

It is Central America in the sense that it is south of the U.S. and north of South America, but I think most would consider it on a Caribbean island.  Here is a shot looking from the Ryndam (through the plexiglass on the upper deck) toward the main part of the port:

We visited it in the 1990s and early 2000s, but when this was taken in 2011 was the last time we were there.  I don't think HAL goes there any more.
