NOVEMBER 1st FOR REAL ?????

Our closest cruise is Nov. 13th and it is just an 8 night from Jersey to Florida, Coco Cay and the Bahamas.

The latest word from the Bahamian Govt. on Phase 4 Starting on November 1st, 2020.

The government will then start planning for Phase 4 which is good news for the cruise industry as vendors, select attractions, casinos, cruises, and ferries will all get the green light during this time.

We have one booked for the following week.  I'm simply waiting for RCCL to cancel it so I can snag the 125% and immediately apply it to another cruise.

There's no way New Jersey will open the port, especially with a rise in COVID cases predicted.

What will take time is getting a 2000+ person crew ready.  The engineering department has been staffed continually since March, but the other departments (hotel, food service, passenger services) will have to be largely reconstituted and trained.  Many of these people will probably not be admissible through US immigration, so they can't just fly into Miami and drive to the ship.  And the plan that the industry submitted to CDC had a gradual workup--shoreside "practice" cruises, followed by crew-only cruises with crew pretending to be passengers, etc.

Tracking the physical movement of ships could be a good way to get a handle on a timeline for return of passenger cruising.

80-90% of the cruises scheduled for November/December won't sail.  If not 100%.  It's pretty funny to read the posts from people who  hope their cruise in that time frame might be the one to go.  Reality just hasn't sunk in for a lot of people.

We were booked for b2b on Harmony 1-15 Nov and cancelled before final payment.  I've said all along that there's no way Nov is going, but some keep hoping and look for any little glimmer of hope so they can be more disappointed soon.

I do think the CDC will be re-evaluating the No-Sail Order before October 31st and making a decision whether to extend it or allow cruising to resume. October 31st does not seem to mean that cruising can definitely resume on November 1st.  I'm not sure the cruise lines will start stocking with provisions and bringing crew onboard until there is a definite date that they will be allowed to sail.

After reading the CDC's latest no-sail order it is apparent that the CDC is a long way away from allowing cruising to continue.  They remain focused on the potential impact of an outbreak on a port.  There's nothing in this order that makes me optimistic.

Yes, got my email today on my Dec. 27th Carnival Breeze cruise out of Miami - gave me a choice to keep it or a refund or FCC. Have a RC cruise Thanksgiving also - have not heard from RC - guess everything is still on - it is out of Port Canaveral. Wish they would send out an update at least

I would think even with permission to sail that the cruise lines will have a vested financial interest in restarting slowly and methodically with a few ships/itineraries. They likely realize they're one outbreak away from a public relations storm that would likely eliminate the interest in sailing of a large part of the remaining clientele.

For those that have L&S or cancelled their 2020 cruises, why do you care about the rest of us who still have cruises booked for this year? Yes, it's a glimmer of hope, but I won't be disappointed if Nov gets cancelled as I've had May, July, August & October cruises cancelled already. There are a few of us that still would cruise under the current changes being presented by RCCL and the health panel, I being one. Do I actually think we'll cruise? Nah, I'm realistic. Will it stop me from being excited about a 11/29/20 Harmony of the Seas cruise? Nope, still pumped to cruise! For the rest of us ready to go as soon as the ship docks, my treat at the casino bar!!

I might book that cruise now.  Warning: I have a hollow leg. 😆

Edit to add: good luck and enjoy if it happens. Please report back afterwards.

Thanks Hard Boiled Egg! (Or does HBE mean something else-ha!) Well, if she does sail (98% chance no) I hope some folks do a last minute booking, I got $1k in bar credit. Bam!

Didn't you just post that people should stay on topic on another thread?

Way I see it, at least this is SOME good news, finally. But, please, only cruise when you are ready. Just the other day, someone posted this well-written checklist about when they should cruise and I can't find it now.

Im scheduled on the Harmony 11/1/20. Half excitement/anxiety right now LOL. I wouldn't mind moving my sail date if it was a normal purchase but its a Casino Royale offer so if I want to cancel/move I lose my comp which I don't want to do.  I live in Florida so I can deal with the last minute aspect of it but it's cutting it really close to being rude/disrespectful for people who have to plan ahead. Carnival CFO said a ship can be ready within 30 days so I imagine their absolute moment to cancel from their end would be this week. At the end of the day, they are at the mercy of the CDC so that is their 'out' but I imagine that is why cruises like Princess cancelled for the year entirely so they don't diminish their reputation anymore by the last second cancellations to the faithful that want to get on.

We just finished a month long road trip in 10 states on the west coast and by the way we saw some of the social distancing followed / enforced in certain restaurants, hotels, casinos... I feel better off in a cruise bubble where they have all the control.

For what it's worth a friend of ours associated with Disney Cruise Lines got a call to get their medical certs renewed for the cruise line as it seems they’re hoping to start bringing the crew to the ships "soon".    So, I'm hoping we start hearing more of this.   Which ships and itineraries actually do sail first is another big question.

I am sincerely hoping you get to go on your November cruise. It could actually happen.

Honestly it's hope... We are booked Jan 3.  We think most likely it will get cancelled.  However it's the hope we are holding onto.  We've been booked since January.  We've been looking forward to it all year.  Take that away and what's the point of anything anymore.

Sure, very possible but with a cruise in November we are not ignoring the [possibility that we will be sailing and will be making plans accordingly until we are told the cruise is cancelled.

I wouldn't bet on NJ sailings in November

Maybe Christmas
