List of cruise ships that are actually sailing....

Recommended Posts

I am very happy that more and more ships are starting to sail in Europe, yesterday evening, for example, Costa Smeralda set sail from Savona, becoming the third Costa ship at sea. She is also the largest ship sailing at this moment.
However, I am very disappointed and annoyed with the lack of any information and updates from MSC. Of course I realize that the situation is changing very quickly and it is difficult for the cruise lines to make decisions about restart, but I think they should give at least a general plan for the rest of 2020. Costa and Aida have already provided details about which ships will start operating in the coming months. I would like to go on a cruise in the coming months, but people are working and it’s impossible to plan anything in advance, due to the lack of information. They should at least officially cancel cruises that will definitely not take place. I suspect that MSC this year will focus only on Europe, in the best case maybe also on the Middle East, but I do not believe that cruises in America or Asia Pacific will take place.

Interesting that the WHO official cited the damage to the travel and leisure markets and the devastation of the tourist industry in the Caribbean and elsewhere in their reasons for saying lockdowns must end.

I'm scheduled for a Dec 2020 cruise, and I'm hungry for info too. But I don't agree that they haven't announced their general plan. I think that maybe you don't believe the plan they have, but you can see what is scheduled. Seaside/Meraviglia from Florida in December now instead of November. I've only been paying attention to US sailings, but I think another ship is about to sail from Italy in addition to the Grandiosa ?  People are talking about Dubai too.

Not to say that you don't have good reason for disbelief- they were still selling 11/7 even when their cancellations page was saying that all of November US sailings were canceled. And they haven't been communicating about what US sailings should specifically expect for their cruise experience. However, if you look through their "before you board" and FAQ pages, there is quite a bit of info there that may be fleetwide. I think they have a real problem as far as having the website, reservations system, leadership, and PR people all on the same page at the same time. Another example is that they have excursions for sale for my cruise that I really don't believe we would be able to take with the "cruise bubble" concept in place.

I'm still hopeful about Dec 2020 from Florida and there has been a lot of positive talk about it since the meeting on Friday with the VP et. all.

It appears that some Nov. cruises from the US are still a possibility. Last week the website showed the Seaside canceled through Nov. 30 and then a couple days later it was changed back to Oct. 31. We are still holding on to hope for the New Years cruise although don't know just what to expect (for example, will we be able to get off the ship at Ocean Cay without an escort?).  After the year we've had, I'll be happy to get back on a cruise even if it is to "nowhere".
