On cruises I cruise in stealth mode. 😉 (big smile and a wink)

We are the same.

Actually, we do enjoy sharing a table when we have lunch in the Oceanview Cafe ( prefer Spa Cafe ).

Same conversation, different faces -- Where are you from ? Oh, the weather must be very cold there ?  But, it's all part of the fun of cruising.

LOL--- So you are not a participant in the " Not So Newly-Wed Game " ?

I never mind strangers joining me during dinner or launch. Its always fun to have a conversation with co passengers and enjoy time together. I mean its like one of the reasons we all gather together for one and only purpose. Cant wait for these days to be back

In addition to Cruise Critic events formal or informal, the Cap Club has events like wine tasting, Sr officers party,.sometime helipad sailaway, etc

Always nice to meet and chat with other cruisers! Optional..of course.

Good ole' USA. Cruising for us has always been fun and very enjoyable and looking forward to our March 2021 Caribbean B2B cruise.  We've never attended any of our RC M&Ms. Personnel preference.

We prefer to be part of the audience rather than a participant in the Not So Newlywed game/show.

Our experience is that it isn’t worth going to.  We went to a few and no longer go

Most don’t want to mingle.  They grab a chair and wait for the CD to  introduce the staff in attendance.    We have tried to mingle by approaching those sitting and got the feeling that we were bothering them.

The staff tells you how great it is to have you on board  blah blah blah, the same script you will hear many times during other events.   The event for us wasted about one hour of our day.

It is also usually  held at a time that may also interfere with something else.

For the most part it is a opportunity for those that are planning a private tour together to meet but don’t expect the staff to promote it as they want you to purchase their tours.   Some will have a gift exchange after.    I guess it is fun for some but we don’t want to carry useless gifts to exchange for some other useless gift.   We have enough clutter.

It is better to join in the Roll Call for your cruise  Some  will arrange a sail away party at the aft bar,  but basically it doesn’t serve any purpose just go where you want to be for the sail away.  It isn’t as if you can’t be there if you don’t sign up.

We found one of  the best thing about the Roll Call  is the cabin crawl that is sometimes arranged .   It gives the chance to tour other cabins

The Roll Call also gives you the opportunity to join in a group that is planning on a private tour, or to arrange one,   It also is good place to get to know some ot those that will be sailing with you and helps build excitement about the cruise along with sharing a few  helpful tips.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I frequently am the one that creates the roll calls for our cruises.   Therefore, I take on the role of spokesperson at the meet and greet.  Frequently, I organize private tours and other activities including a murder mystery.  I find the meet and greet as a great way to get together with the cruise friends, most I have not met before.

Usually, we meet at the elite happy hour and socialize, then go to the MDR together for dinner.  With COVID-19 much of this is in doubt.  Hoping for a vaccine, so things can return to some normalcy.

IMO---I think that game has outlived it's time. We stopped going " years " ago --- same questions , same funny " stuff ".

The crowd goes " wild " with laughter when the Asst CD ( the CD is probably sleeping by then ) asks some dumb question about his wife's bra size.

How about " What's My Line " , where the passengers try to guess what the participant does for work. If he/she stumps the audience they receive either $500 OBC or a key chain , whichever the Cruise Line decides to give ( LOL ).

Yep, been to many of them. Scripted answers from the majority of the participants based on the same questions asked. But our choice to go and having a few good laughs before calling it a night. But one persons floor is another persons ceiling.

Very good point---

LOL--- But, how many times can we, oops, I laugh at some " goofy " guy staring into space wondering what size his wife's bra is or the color of her pj's ?

What do you think of the " What's My Line " suggestion as a " Pitching " change ?

Sounds good to me. Kinda like Celebritys liars club. IMO, anything that is funny with passenger participation  and engages the audience is a good idea. We really enjoy RCs QUEST.

We would like to see QUEST on Celebrity. One persons ceiling is another persons floor. We've always had fun and a lot of laughs.

Your son in law forgetting his camera and someone picking it up and keeping it had nothing to do with QUEST or RCs security.

TA's almost always have a large gathering but other than acknowledging the person(s) who kept track of the roll call and organized other activities the gathering is just okay.  It can be a good place to remind people about times & dates for organized slot pulls, cabin crawls, pub crawls...etc....

We participated in a cabin crawl once, showed our room....never again.....having 20+ people march through your cabin is not appealing at all and even more so now...as others have said I suspect this activity will not be allowed now.

That's a great phrase--- With that in mind a few questions come to mind:

What do you expect passengers' behavior to be once cruising starts again ?

Will Staff actually enforce the new rules ?

Is the " risk , the cost , and the reward of cruising "  really worth it ?

Sorry, I nor anyone else can even guess what others will or will not do including the staff. I hope the staff will enforce what ever published protocols will be in place and all cruisers abide by those published protocols when cruising resumes.  As far as we are concerned, we are looking forward to all of our 2021 cruises and will let RC and Celebrity decide if we are going on those cruises or not. We won't be cancelling any of our future cruises as we have no interest in the L&S and/or the FCC options.

Same here--- that's what prompted my question ----- to see what other people think.

I hate to be negative, but, with so many passengers on board and new restrictions , it could easily turn into a " circus at sea ".

We will wait for feedback before booking a few more cruises.

In addition to their already intensive, customer pleasing roles, now they may need to act like police.  Does anyone not think the Karen's are going to be aboard the ship.  Enough already!

Not my problem.

Actually , it could be everybody's problem.

With 1000's of passengers, some with " entitlement attitudes ,  facing new regulations,",  IMO, it's " guaranteed " that there will be confrontations between passengers and between passengers and staff enforcing the rules.

I keep thinking of the elevators , social distancing , the Oceanview Cafe ( watch out in there ), seating in lounges, bars , pool area, theater.

Oh well ----" One persons ceiling is another persons floor ".

Any cabin crawls I have been on have been limited to about 6 - 8 people in each group.  We booked a cabin we saw on one of the crawls and loved it.  We mostly skip the connection parties unless we want to meet up with someone who has organized a private excursion.  I think the screen name should be on the name tag as no one knows our given names.

Yes it is. The cruise lines.

Actually, no it's not my (our) problem what others do or don't do on the ship when/if cruising resumes. I'll leave that up to the cruise lines to enforce their published protocols and take the appropriate actions. We'll continue to practice the common sense guidelines/suggestions/recommendations on a cruise ship and off the cruise ship that we do in our everyday lives.  We don't live in a bubble.

We are exactly the same--

My point is, it will be very uncomfortable to witness " conflicts " that are bound to happen on a daily basis throughout the cruise.

( Your posts are always very good and hope somehow, someday to meet you in person ).

((I just post my thoughts and opinions.  I don't expect or care if others disagree with me or my opinion.))

Hopefully security would step in and make an example out of those that are giving the staff a hard time by escorting them away to their stateroom and kicking them off at the next port.  Then again it might make for some interesting entertainment at the expense of those not complying.
