I think there is one in hospital. It hasn't been said if any of the cases have been vaccinated as yet.

Thanks Big Kev. I heard that about the doctor, but it wasn't confirmed. Really bad if doctors have not been vaccinated. Evidently the doctor did a visit to the home of one of the positve cases, according to what I saw on ABC news earlier. Of course the doctor may not have known that the patient had covid when he visited.

Another case has been announced this morning. All new cases are connected through work or are family connections. This brings the number from this cluster to 15.

It is nice to watch greater Melbourne from afar, now having extended our stay another 4 nights, along with now have a rather nice bottle of local gin after this mornings tasting.

Some fresh fish for dinner, jacob's creek is on the ice getting ready,  joining some nice salads from the local supermarket.....

So we are doing our bit by staying away and waiting to see the next 24 hours  as quoted are critical........( for deciding what for dinner tomorrow night )      hopefully  not further lock down, or the ring of steel....

So watching from afar  Don

Glad you booked an additional 4 nights, Don.  Fresh fish, local salads and a cold wine tonight's dinner sounds like holidays - enjoy!  What will you choose for tomorrow night's dinner?

There have been reports of health care and aged care workers who have not been vaccinated yet.

It is not clear why but it may be multiple reasons, including it is not mandatory that they do so.

Thankfully no reports of serious illness so far and may that continue.

Unfortunately the same problems around aerosol transmission in hotel quarantine seem to be happening.

Hoping you are in your Qld location Big Kev rather than Melbourne. After several attempts we are currently holidaying in Coolangatta on GC and not returning home for another month. Feel desperately sorry for all impacted including those in hospitality and travel sectors. Here we go again.

Nice to see doctors are getting the vaccine, not.

Unless they were in the 1A group, they were not entitled to receive the vaccine, like nurses it was only for staff that were in close contact to COVID patients.

The rest of the hospital staff are 1B, and that is currently being rolled out.

I think they will make thier elderly personnell get vaccinated or insist on a similar bill or a law to make sure that old people working on board are protected and safe to cruise

In Australia it is not compulsory for anyone to be vaccinated. In the future, a person wanting to board a cruise ship might have to prove that they have been vaccinated or have a valid reason why not. This would likely be a requirement put in place by the cruise line, not by the government with a law.

Ib phase in early April if not before. We had ours then as did all the doctors, nurses and other staff in our clinic. It seems very stupid that any medical staff haven't had theirs yet.

Feeling grateful we were able to holiday interstate last week.  I wasn’t excited until we set on the plane...expected we would need to cancel up to that point if there were further Sydney outbreaks.  Thankfully the recent Sydney outbreak was only limited to two people. Feel for those in greater Melbourne with holiday plans.

For those who are wondering how Covid has spread between the positive cases here in Victoria, this chart explains it quite well. Each case is numbered in the oder they tested positive.

May be an image of text that says '5 HOUSEHOLD CLOSE CONTACT 6 7 8 CLOSE LINK 9 13 FAMILY WORKPLACE 10 2 3 4 12 14 15'

You are one Lucky you. You are  in a good spot...  Stay there!!!   To fill  time where we would normally not be in OZ, we have managed Syd, Tassie and NQ, during this year so far.. At the mo,  back in Melb, and shortly due to head  for our annual 2 months MEL winter on Sunshine Coast.. This new debarcle may put paid to that as it did last year.. With 2,500 tracers in Vic, and still probs doing the job, best that State Govt leave it to the other states or the Feds. In addition, PPl who apply and  get permits to leave OZ to work or get married etc, should not be able to return whilst we are in this phase ... Makes us MAD,!!!  AND EVEN MADDER!!!!!!

A few friends and family were at Marvel and in the areas where the positive case sat. Our reserved seats were not affected (we didn't go to game as younger grandson ended up at Monash Children's emergency after football injury).

That's a bit harsh about the contract tracers. I read an article this evening which quoted an expert in the field who said the Victorian contact tracers are doing 'extremely well'.

What do you want the state govt to leave to the other states and the Feds? Hotel quarantine? This latest cluster has originated from the Victorian who caught Covid in HQ in South Australia, not Victoria.

I agree with you about people leaving the country by their own choice. That is a Federal Govt decision though.

Leaving it to the feds could be a very good idea.

However, a certain “leader” keeps saying it’s not his job, leave it to the states.

It was good to read the health minister Hunt is going to release more vaccines for Victoria over the next 6 weeks.

Hopefully supply and places to get vaccinated will improve elsewhere too.

NSW figures look good and the walk in centres in Melbourne likewise.

Very slow in SA but beginning to gather pace in outer regional areas doing over 16s.

Pharmacist have applied to administer too but that may be later in the year.

Interesting rollout.

I’m 1B and still haven’t been vaccinated, I work in a public hospital, we are only allowed to have two staff per day, per ward get vaccinated, due to the risk of reactions, they cant afford for too many staff to be off sick. My appointment is in 4 weeks.
