Diamond to Diamond plus seems like the best deal so far. Well, at least the majority of people for it. I would like to know the details. Sounds like a good deal to me

Pretty straightforward.  Any existing cruise or any cruise booked by December 3, 2020 that sails in 2021 gets double whatever points you would have normally received

Agree about choices. This is one thing that I do not need to try to know that I would not enjoy. 😉

Went to one on Harmony. Started talking to another Pinnacle. Korean War vet. Wine ran out and they brought us some beers. We were last two in Giovanni's andctheyvgave us more beervto go. Spent the next hour on a bench in CP, then went down to Casino for more beer.

All told we hung out about 3 hours. Great afternoon

NEVER, in my opinion.   In fact, I've had countless meals with officers, including many with the  Captain  or HD and I don't EVER recall  hearing anyone make any complaint.   Quite  the opposite, generally some nice compliments  about the cruise or even a particular staff/crew.

Let your friend know it would be in poor taste.

M

Good to know.

Do you think people would complain to Michael Bayley if he was onboard (be careful how you answer as I know the answer)? 😇

I always ask the question of whether they enjoy the gathering.  Of course, they all say yes, but I think it is a sincere answer.  The air conditioning officer said it was a wonderful break and an escape from below deck where he spent most of his time.

Some drink the wine and some don't.  No idea why or why not.

That is what I gathered from the officers we enjoyed conversing with.  Most all of them told us it was a nice break during the day...and I felt they were sincere.  The job they have won't work for them unless they are good with people...some cruisers can be a bit needy sometimes.  I don't envy their jobs.  😉

I am pretty sure you can get a LA or Concierge to get you one if you want to add it to your collection.

Thanks...but I was just joking.  😉  Not sure what happened to my Platinum pin, but the Diamond pin adorns Bucky's tiny stuffed Dolphin (he calls Diamond Dolly) which he takes with him when we travel.   I am not sure where my D+ pins are, .... probably stuffed inside my jewelry box at home perhaps.

I've seen some gold badges that folks make for themselves.   Not Pinnacle.   Some say Pinnacle in Training. Some have the C&A logo and their name on a gold badge, the size/shape  of a pinnacle badge.  Sure it is nice to reach the  next tier  and enjoy the benefits.  But to make a fake badge, or get one on eBay won't get you benefits.   I feel sorry for those who think a loyalty tier or pretending to be a certain loyalty tier  on a  cruise ship brings meaning to life.

M

I remember one "fake Pinnacle"...that was very obnoxious with his fake Pinnie badge, and was embarrassingly mean to the crew members...barking orders at them like he owned them.  I tried to avoid being near him whenever possible,  ....whenever I got stuck on the same ship with him.  Which was really too often for me.

We had one LA who was overwhelmed with them and happy to give them away.

When I used to wear my D+ badge, I (and mostly Bucky) would tend to misplace them, indeed had asked the LA for replacement, who would bring out large plastic bags of the pins....direct to you from China!!  😉

What are pinnacle name badges going for😇

Ever watch "The Cruise" a few years back?  (TV series about Princess)

Some "frequent floaters" went out and made their own badges modelled after crew badges.  It was hilarious.

Please tell your friend that the only ones I would raise the issue with would be the LA or the concierge.

It's another reason we enjoy the luncheon...the ones in attendance seem (thankfully) to leave "politics" out of it.  No reason to make people feel uncomfortable.  We are all there just to enjoy the light conversations, the wine, and the meal.

Pax that "will never go to one"...hey...no problem.  Their choice, no big deal.  Simply don't go.  😉 Leave it for the rest of us that actually enjoy it.  😉

Exactly! Like they say, one persons ceiling is another persons floor. 🍷

The Voyager and Freedom class ships used to have grands up in the card room of the VCL. That is where I used to play. Unfortunately, they are gone. I think Freedom was the last ship to have one of at least it was the last ship I sailed on that had one.

I am not the roving piano player but it is a thought for when I quit my day job.🙂

If you dined with the Captain or other high ranking officer (other than the laundry guy), would you bring up D+ not permitted in the CL?

Asking for a friend.

Always a complaint or two brought up. Often internet or TV programming 😉

Don’t you think they might say things people want to hear?  You really expect them to say they had better things to do than have dinner with you guys?

That answer applies to a lot of discussions on the ship😉

I've often seen someone missing because they were needed elsewhere

Nope, sorry....too rich for my budget.  And since I was never officially awarded that level...I don't have the right to wear it anyway.  😉

I once saw a guy wearing a name tag and laughed. I thought he only wore his because he was really old.

Lol. Enlightening thread. I havent any idea where any of my pins are.

I once sat down to dinner with a guy who had every single card from every cruise he had ever taken. .. and insisted on showing them to me. Obviously I need more time in the dl and get the right attitude. I've been giving away most all the stuff they give me to other pax.

PS do you all have huge houses? All the mugs, etc take lots of space to store.

Can you add a choice for too far from the next level to get there? (aka On the long road between D+ and P)   If you are D+ between 175-600 points or so it's a pretty lofty goal even solo at 4 or 6 points per night to reach Pinnacle

I need about 180 points to make Pinnacle.  Early this year I calculated I would be Pinnacle by the end of 2021.  Despite the many cancelled cruises, with the new double points I would still make Pinnacle by the end of next year IF all the cruises I now have booked sail.  But that's not going to happen. ☹️ In early 2021 I have bookings in Australia and Singapore; can't imagine either will actually sail.
