NCL is indeed flying in crew to Bar, Norwegian Getaway docked there. Making it the largest cruise ship to call at Bar too heh. :classic_biggrin:  It seems NCL does not have to bother with (intra)EU regulations for their crew or Montenegro has less strict quarantaine time. Or perhaps the location with infrastructure suits NCL well.

Whatever it might be, Bar is serving as a stepping stone for a return to cruising.

Drone vid of GA arriving in Bar, with a good view of her new funnel (bleh..:classic_blush:)https://fb.watch/6pMtwU6bO3/

Thx for the video!

Yeah, her new funnel looks kind of "stubby" but I can live with it. Wonder why NCL changed it??

Emissions scrubbers.  There's a thread on here somewhere about the shipyard visit...

and the ENCORE is going to arrive in Seattle in a few days. Right now she is entering Alaska waters way over on the western tip.  Should be in Seattle perhaps the weekend and catch the Seattle Needle webcam which stores each day's waterfront photos.

Two Royal ships already will be there.

Joy back in San Juan, did it even stop at BVI?

Nope, they got as far as the outlying smaller islands and then turned right around and went back to San Juan. 🤔

Interesting. Maybe they needed to do the gray water thingy. Do you know how long the Joy was in San Juan before her little joy ride? She needs to get out of there so the Gem can get in. The Gem still needs to vaccinate her employees in preparation for an August 15th departure.

She first arrived in San Juan on June 9.

Still moored, worry time yet?

Just because the ship is still moored doesn't mean things aren't going on to get the ship started. It seems like staffing, entertainment, and such are the current hurdles. The ship won't take 90 days to get from Europe to NYC.

I believe that many of the crew are at home in their home countries, and being vaccinated by whatever sources vaccinate people.  Why do people think that NCL would gather up a bunch of unvaccinated people, stick them on a ship and then vaccinate them?  Wouldn't that just be asking for trouble?  We did see an article posted about the Philippians giving ship workers priority vaccinations for months.   IIRC, aren't a large portion of NCL crews from places like that?

The Philippines relies on re-patriated funds... for decades, they have made a primary business of training hospitality workers and nurses, who then take jobs elsewhere.  Those workers send a big portion of their pay back home to support their families (i.e. grandma raising their children).  When tens of thousands of cruise ship workers got sent home... there weren't jobs for them, meaning whole extended families suffered.  They are definitely eager to get back to work, and will take any vaccine available to do so.

Thanks.  That's cool.  It's good to see one more piece of evidence that AK this fall is really going to happen.
