Carnival cancelled all remaining cruises through 2/28/21

IMO That would make it easier for everyone if they did.  It seems all the expensive hoops they would have to jump through and the potential of becoming known for a disastrous Covid cruise, is not to their economic advantage.  If we can all be vaccinated by summer, it probably makes better business sense to buckle down and wait it out.

We saw this coming and a few weeks ago.  We canceled and rescheduled for next February.  This was our 3rd canceled rescheduled cruise.  We hope everything will return  to "normal" by then.  In the meantime. We're going to take road trips and explore this country.

All embarkations from Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston
through and including February 28, 2021

Embarkations on Mardi Gras through and including April 17, 2021

Dear Carnival Cruise Line Guest:

Like other cruise lines, we continue to work to meet the requirements for the Framework for Resuming Cruise Ship Operations Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). While it provides a path forward to resume operations, and while we are in the process of bringing a majority of our fleet back to the U.S., it will take time to meet the requirements. The situation continues to evolve, and given the very specific obligations of the CDC Order, we have also concluded that we must cancel additional cruises. Unfortunately, that means as referenced above, your cruise must be cancelled, and we apologize for this disappointing news.

We are providing two options for you, including a bonus value incentive package that has proven very popular with our guests. We hope you will be able to rebook your vacation using our enhanced value offer, providing a future cruise credit (FCC) and a generous onboard credit (OBC) for use on any future cruise through April 2023. Or you may choose a full refund.

We have fully automated your ability to make your choice online, avoiding the need to call us. Whether purchased directly from Carnival or from a travel agent, you can submit your request via our online tool, which will also allow for faster processing. Calling us will not expedite your request. If you booked through a travel advisor or a Carnival Personal Vacation Planner, they are also fully equipped to help you submit your request and rebook another vacation with your FCC. This letter supersedes any previous offer you received.

mail?url=http%3A%2F%2Fimage.carnivalcrui

Please make your selection using our online tool here – there is no need to call. Unfortunately, given the high volume of bookings impacted by these cancellations coupled with our contact center employees working remotely, hold-times are much longer than during normal operations.

This offer is valid until May 31, 2021 for you to make a selection. If no selection is made by then, you will automatically receive an FCC*.

Whichever option you select will apply to all guests on your reservation. Regardless of the option you choose, your taxes, fees and port expenses, Carnival Vacation Protection, pre-paid gratuities, pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions, beverage and Wi-Fi packages, and Fun Shop purchases will be automatically refunded to the original form of payment.

If you purchased your own flights for getting to your cruise, we encourage you to contact your airline or travel agent about your options as the airlines are also working to accommodate their passengers.

As we confer with industry partners and regulators on the protocols and procedures that will guide our operations when we resume sailing, we will continue to make information available at www.carnival.com/health-and-sailing-updates

Thank you for your continued understanding and support. We look forward to seeing you on board just as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

*The future cruise credit (FCC) is based on the cancellation fees retained by Carnival for this voyage, including Fly2Fun air if applicable. FCC and Onboard Credit (OBC) are combinable with all Carnival-offered fares, are non-transferable, non-refundable, cannot be used as a deposit or applied to a chartered sailing, have no cash value, and must be redeemed on a Carnival Cruise Line sailing departing by 4/30/2023. The FCC/OBC may only be used toward one (1) booking in the same currency in which the above voyage was originally paid. FCC cannot be used for taxes, fees & port expenses, Carnival Vacation Protection, onboard charges or gratuities and any unused portion will be forfeited. New OBC offer replaces any previous OBC offer and applies to new booking if made by 5/31/2021. The booking guest shall be responsible for payment of the difference between the amount of the FCC and the amount of the new booking if higher. After you have booked your new cruise, please use this link to provide us with the booking information so we can process your FCC.

We lost another one.  We use American Express to receive statement credits, so we hate to outright cancel and lose the credits ($275 on this cruise).  $275 from Amex plus $600 OBC is just too much to give up, so we keep moving that money to other cruises.  The price creeps up with every rebook by $100 or so; we are really happy that this time it is only $18.

The way things are going there are going to be far fewer ships sailing if/when cruises resume from US ports and the price of cruises will be significantly higher in the future. I don’t see how any cruise line will survive and pay off the massive debts they have accumulated without substantially increasing revenue.

This is another thing I've been saying for months.  The days of "4 adults per cabin" are gone.

I was thinking just the opposite. The only way some people will be able to afford a cruise in the future is with 4 people in a cabin. Of course 4 people in one cabin can be more expensive than 4 people in 2 cabins at certain times of the year like Christmas.

I even called Carnival last night;  rep told me oh they are still going...  if I want to cancel; I am more then welcome with  no penalties; but no OBC.  Final payment was Feb 6th.  Ask if I do plan on sailing what credit card do I want to pay off my balance.    NO I am not giving any more monies..

Got my email this am; while it was broadcasting on the news.

Hopefully those who booked have insurance for flights and etc

Was wondering if I payed for the insurance does that get reimbursed through carnival?

Carnival isn't interested in what people can afford.  Carnival is interested in how much people will pay.

At any time of the year....2 adults in 2 cabins brings in more $$$ than 4 in 1.

It's just like a luxury line....if you can't afford it, you don't go. (Not saying Carnival will be a luxury line...just more expensive for a slightly better product.)

I talked to my PVP yesterday afternoon and he wasn’t aware that NCL and Royal had already suspended February.  I don’t think they have much more notice about suspensions than we do.

My AmEx credits were not removed from my refund.

We had two reversed last year.  I wish I knew what the rules are (length of time since the charge, possibly?). We also use two Amex accounts, so a small refund on each account could result in two losses.

My PVP told me that at least one client told him the credit was reversed and others said theirs wasn’t.  I don’t want to be the unlucky one!

Yep, there went our Feb. Liberty cruise. Had worked our way up to a Grand Suite with all the future cruise credit from past cancelled cruises due to Covid. Just booked a 7-day Pride out of Tampa for Jan. 2022 with a Premium Balcony cabin that will be almost free by the time our Feb. future cruise credit is added to the cost. Only $300 OBC as the Liberty cruise was just 4 days, but booked the new one with a casino promo which will add another $200 OBC.

What's left is an April 2021 Holland America cruise which we now expect to be cancelled. Have an 11 day Holland cruise booked for Dec. 2021 with a balcony cabin. It was a casino promo with a free ocean view which we upgraded to a balcony cabin for only a few hundred dollars. Great deal for 11 days. We are hopeful for Dec. '21 and Jan. '22 sailings!!

Well, I was kind of expecting this but my wife got the dreaded email from Carnival this morning informing her that our late February, 2021 cruise on the Freedom out of Galveston was cancelled. Disappointed and relieved at the same time. Now it's time to start looking at future cruises. Maybe Summer of 2021 or Fall, 2021. The cruise was paid in full back in January, with Carnival gift cards. And now, I don't even know if the Freedom will be sailing out of Galveston then. :classic_unsure:

I was kind of expecting my Feb Vista to be canceled even if they restarted in Feb. This was the last of my cheap cruises and the cheapest of all. A rebook is going to be a little over 50% more.

major league bummed.

What I lost in the discount I'll get back in OBC so It'll all even out I guess.

Not sure I can figure out the financials.  Got on the 8/31 at day 1 prices, moved that to the 11/14 sailing at a premium, moved that to an aft excel suite for the 1/23/2021 at a huge markup and then to the 2/6/21 to a regular balcony.  Feeling under the weather today and missed the openings for 4/24 and that is now closed.  Our next sailing is 7/10.

It was only a matter of time being both RCI and NCL had cancelled already.

At this point they very well could be waiting until vaccine is available to all.

You are correct my friend, we are discussing this topic (fairly active discussion I might add) as we speak.

Dang. Maybe something will open up for you or they'll push it back again. Hate to see you lose the inaugural after all of that.

Mmmm thanks.  We have a call on Monday with our new Business Development Manager. This poor guy is gonna be the wrong person in the wrong spot at the wrong time.  Al the disappointments pale after the 8/31.  Sailing from Copenhagen to Liverpool and ever port of call a new one for us. Still stings.....
