If a TA refused to book my casino rate of 35% off of an inside, I’d go elsewhere. The TA is obviously stupid enough to think that no commission is better than commission on a reduced fare. We have 7 bookings between now and the end of 2022, all at a casino rate. My TA is happy to have our repeat business and all of the referrals I send his way, even if my bookings are all 35% off.

I imagine Princess must have some sort of agreement whereby they protect TA commissions in some decent manner for these bookings.

Of course.

In Vegas, if you do not like the odds in one casino, you can easily go to another.

On a ship, that would be a long swim.

Ha.

Some casino offers are just for free cabins but no casino cash - other are reduced fare plus casino cash and some have both.  If you are getting free play it should show in you travel summary

Yes, that is right. Thanks

I book as a single then add the other person before final payment, just in case something comes up I  have also had them quote me twice the ugrade fee, so to upgrade to a balcony from a free inside Flll- SF .. Panama Canal, was going to be 1800 per person but I knew that was not right had her change to double occ and it was 1800 total. Much cheaper to upgrade on other cruises,

I did get an email yesterday from the Princess Players Club for discounted cabins and $300 in free play.  When I click on the email, pretty much all cruises are listed as eligible on the website.  Here's the fine print by the way which is pretty much the same that it has been for years:

1 Up to 35% off and casino free play offers are available on select voyages sailing 9/25/21 and 5/11/2023, and must be booked between July 6 and August 26, 2021. Discounted fare applies to voyages up to 20 days. The 35% discount applies to interior staterooms for Caribbean, Mexico and California Coast. Discounts for other stateroom categories on the foregoing voyages are as follows: 30% off oceanview staterooms, 25% off Balcony staterooms, 20% off Mini-Suites, and 15% off Suites. For Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, Canada & New England and Panama Canal: up to 25% off Interior staterooms, 20% off Oceanview staterooms, 15% off Balcony staterooms, 10% off Mini-Suites, and 5% off Suites. Savings apply to cruise fare only, and are based on destination and stateroom category on a space-available basis at time of booking. Offer has limited number of available discounted rooms, regardless of cabin availability. Discounts and offer may change without notice. Discount applies to first two guests in a stateroom only. Invited Member must be first guest booked in the stateroom to qualify for the offer. Offer is not combinable with select offers including, but not limited to, complimentary beverage packages, ail discounts, Interline, Travel Agent or Friends and Family rates

A few things to think about when considering a casino offer for a free cruise:  if the offer is for an inside, you need to pay for the upgrade to a balcony, if you want one and sometimes the princess plus is not included.  Your 200 deposit is non refundable if you have to cancel.  You do get it back as obc on the cruise. In addition, you pay for the cruise in full at the time of purchase.  For airfare through princess, you have to call the casino dept and book through them as well if it is a free cabin offer.  If you add it online yourself, it cancels your entire cruise, a known system issue. For us, I had to pay in full for business airfare to Europe upfront as they claim any booking has to have everything paid in full upfront, even the flexible air.    The air is still flexible air, but you can not change it online if the price goes down, you need to call them again.   Honestly, I will never do a free cabin again thru them as the upfront payments and hassle of trying to call to reprice and rebook my air just is not worth it. They are collecting interest off of about 7k of my $$ for almost a year before we even sail.   I will stick to the 35% reduced casino rate so I do not have to pay in full upfront or go through the hassle.

This is incorrect, I get FREE balcony cabins year round from my comp play. PRINCESS sends out a brochure where you select up to 3 sailings to go on, all free no need to pay for cruise upfront. Only $200 booking fee which is refunded as OBC. This is incredibly generous for someone like me who is unemployed and is living ship to ship, I absolutely love the casino comp program.

This can't be further from the truth..the casino on a cruise has an incentive to pay out HIGHER to keep you coming back crusing. If they had lower than Vegas ods people would never visit the casino, cruise casinos are pretty generous as they have a revenue sharing agreement with the cruise line so more people cruise = more profits from the cruise line as a payout, this is on top of casino earnings. Casinos are incentivized to keep you coming back on cruises, and feeling happy.

Thus many casinos on cruises are constantly packed, a lots of people join their loyalty programs because casinos are so popular due to winnings on cruises, don't be fooled by propaganda that odds on cruises are less.

my statement was IF the offer is for an inside, then you have to pay to upgrade.  It is not incorrect, just not clearly stated.  I do not gamble enough to get the free balcony offers.

You are getting far ahead of your self, SYNCROS is widely used by land based properties, cruiseships are not yet clients of this casino management tool. For optimum money churn you should always always be playing tables.

It helps of course that I know 90% of the casino pit bosses personally by now after years of comp sailing, they polish up my playthrough rates in exchange I bring them customers, friends and promote the casino while I am walking around the ship.

See true power lies with the pit boss because they decide and they keep track of who played how much and for how long, its a rudimentary archaic system that allows for personal exploitation you see.

If I put down $1000 on craps but only play $50 on passline for an hour, its not uncommon for the playthrough to be recorded at 300 or 400% higher by the pit boss then I actually played because I know them and we got each other's back and casinos on ships have 0 way to verify individual level table games unless something is clearly off but I fly under the radar. Remember who you talking to, a legend in the casino comp community.

And the guy that you were speaking to has a grandmother whose gambling and comps in Vegas and Reno probably put yours to shame. I would say no offense, but your tone and the "Remember who you are talking to..." sentence make me inclined to not need to. Grandmother had no need to play your games because she just absolutely killed it at the slots and table games, and they would comp her incredibly huge things because she gambled large and won large. AND she was a lady about it, not a big-winded person who tooted their own horn and spoke in patronizing tones to the apparent peons who were beneath them...

If you don't gamble how do you get invited back on cruises? There is no way I can afford 3 cruises a month if I had to pay for them out of pocket. I get comped through casino for free cruises across almost every cruise line, you need to up your casino game if you want to cruise free and save money.

“MarinerBoy” never responded to my comment about how he was going on a 12 day Princess cruise to Hawaii in December.  I don’t seem to see that itinerary. Maybe the truth is being ,  what I  call “stretched “

Then again maybe he’s confused 🤔

In November i remember congratulating MarinerBoy on the Casino thread because he was SO excited that he had gotten an offer.  He could not believe that Princess was giving away free cruises.  Seems that things are different now?

Those of us with roots in Arkansas would echo Mina's sentiment of "Bless his heart" and then throw in a few others...but I'm playing nice in the sandbox today.

I believe that he may have not just stretched the truth, but wiped his feet all over it.

He is, what we like to say, not terribly closely acquainted with the truth! 🥂

Got a flyer asking us to book a free balcony with VIP benefits on a selected listing of cruises. All sorts of options from 5 day to 15 day. We selected a 15 day Hawaii cruise in December. Why in the world would Princess offer such luxury cruises free? I understand we play a lot in the casino but what idiot is going to select a 5 day cruise when a 15 day Hawaii cruise which is by far the most expensive and hard to find cruise esp in Dec is free? Incredible.

On top of this free comp we get VIP benefits for the whole 15 days and the best part is by accepting this free trip we also qualify for another free VIP Ultimate trip later in 2021 or 2022.

So, 2 free cruises worth up to 3k usd pp each, wow! Princess just handed us 12k worth of cruises for free? Why?

On 11/28/2020 at 6:53 PM, MarinerBoy said:

When called to book i had to pay $235 in taxes + $200 per person non refundable deposit which gets converted to ship credit. This is a total of $400 ship credits coming back to us, so we only pay $235 each for 15 days to Hawaii in December, unreal value.

I called to confirm this was true and the call center lady said the "casino" is paying the balance of the fare, so somehow the casino has its own bankroll and budget, and the casino has power to pay off your debt.. why? Incredible, imagine this guys, out of the blue a 15 day all expenses paid cruise to Hawaii.. just like that, wow!

And they will throw in a second cruise free called VIP ULTIMATE, who in the world is making these marketing decisions.. 2 free cruises for 2, worth over $10,000+ in value just to have fun in the casino, drink free drinks, relax, go out to eat.. what a life!

On 11/29/2020 at 11:27 AM, MarinerBoy said:

Our flyer said up to 3 offers but that's a misprint. There is no way Princess will give away 3 free cruises think about it.

We just paid the taxes + fees and got our confirmation of booking! Imagine I can do this 2 more times, is that true 3 free cruises?

On 11/29/2020 at 11:30 AM, MarinerBoy said:

This is quite interesting, which forum is this posted at, link? Also the topic in discussion on this screen shot is the Ultimate VIP cruise the "end game" cruise but you still need to qualify for that cruise by going on up to 3 free cruises.

Based on the above posts, from November, I call shenanigans on Mariner Boy's posts regarding his legendary status in ANY casino community. Mic drop!

Come on guys 😀, let’s just make mariner boy feel appreciated here in the virtual world.   May I suggest you all call up an old brad paisley song called “online”.  Take a listen, then picture his other week per month that he is not cruising for free in a balcony being spent in his mom’s basement……
