Absolutely not.  I hate wearing them but do so when I have to go into stores.  Wearing one for 2/3 of a day could never be fun.  Sure people say they wear them for 10 hours a day at work.  But when they go home they most likely do not.  Wearing a mask anytime one is outside of a cabin would just ruin the cruise experience for me.  And being forced to take only ship excursions is also a deal breaker.  We'll most likely look at road trips where we won't have so many restrictions.  Taking a cruise under these circumstances is certainly a personal choice each person needs to make and I will choose other vacation experiences.

I used to think that I would not, but I would now.  I would spend a lot more of my time on my own balcony.

 

Based on various comments about people that would not cruise if a mask was required, if a vaccine was not required, and if they could not wander the port on their own, the cruise company may not need to worry about how to reduce their capacity to 50% if required.  
 

I do have my own stipulation.  I will not cruise if the cruise length is a maximum of 7 days.

under the current proposed restrictions - I would not cruise OVER 7 days, and it would have to be to our drive to port

 

not being able to just walk off the ship and do our own thing is bigger than the mask requirement to us, unless it is just a little 3-4 day cruise to nowhere ... aka Princess Cay

First I want to say that yes, we would sail if masks are required.

 

Now I want to point out that even before the pandemic I perpetually had a drink or snack in front of me. So, if you see me in that condition, it's not because I don't want to wear a mask.

 

Finally, it's been over a year since our last cruise and I've at last dropped the ten pounds of 'cruise weight' caused by those drinks and snacks!

If we are all vaccinated (which will probably be required),

praytell, why do we need to mask up!

 

1. All of us will be vaccinated

2. Masks should then be optional and voluntary.

3. We will have learned to remember to wash our hands, use sanitizers

that are all over the ship, and crew will serve you from the buffet.

Agreed, everybody on board should be vaccinated. But there is no one answer to a pandemic. Until it ceases to be a pandemic, we need to throw everything at it. Extra hygiene, masks, distancing, vaccines and anything else.

Yes, I will wear a mask in public areas on a cruise ship, on an airplane, in subways, etc.

The masks are the least of the problems. It's all of the other restrictions that I have been reading on the other boards that will keep me from cruising

1. Reservations for the pool and casino

2. Wearing a mask while sitting by the pool or on the sun deck

3. Only being able to eat or drink in a venue or restaurant ( I predict table and bar stool hogs)

4. Temperature checks before you enter a venue

If you are only wearing a mask to the store or when walking through a restaurant try wearing it straight for 12 hours and see if it doesn't bother you.

Assuming. Masks  are not required on your balcony, a cruise through the Norwegian Fjords might work-or may e the Panama Canal.If masks are required on individual balconies, I will cancel. Anyone know?

I haven't even heard about masks being required on personal balconies. I hope that doesn't happen.

Try 16+ hours as I've done on call days at work.

Yes for me, not sure about my husband. I've worn them for up to 16+ hours a day for the last 33 years. It's not a big deal for me. Unless I have to wear an N95--then my crappy lungs make it very difficult to breathe. I've spent the last year wearing a mask every time I leave my yard--work, shopping, working out, etc.  I almost feel naked without one.  

 

For some, it may be as simple as finding the right fit--pleated vs shaped. If you wear glasses, the metal nose strip is a must. If you still fog, try medical tape across the top to seal the mask. It will work. If a mask is what it takes to go on a cruise (or any vacation) I'm all for it.

Yes, we would if mask are required, but we want our vaccines first. We haven't had one cold since March 2020, when we started wearing masks. I'm curious about what the pool protocol will be. There could be lots of interesting tan lines 🙂

I wear one 10-12 hours a day essential retail manager. 60yrs old and I had to buy acne cream during the summer months. Can't imagine wearing a mask in the humid Caribbean.

I am actually amazed that people are worried about cruising.    I was raised that vacations were a gift.    I am in my early 60’s.   My parents were raised during the depression.  There weren’t many vacations.

  The absolute furthest thing from my mind is when will I be able to take a vacation.  
It is time to sit back and ponder your life.   You may actually realize that a vacation is at the very bottom of that list.   I am very thankful that my husband and I have taken some unbelievable trips.    We are now sitting back and enjoying all those memories.

The rules that will most likely be in place, as they have been on the European cruises that have sailed, have been that a mask must be worn inside unless seated.  No carrying a drink around and using that as an excuse not to wear a mask.
