Entire stateroom cancel/same refund?

Recommended Posts

I have done this. Originally booked a 6 day with 4 people and only 2  people wanted to re book. We were allowed to re book but only received $150 PP OBC since the original cruise was for 4 people.

Does that make sense?

This reminds me a family cruise we took a a few summers ago. The drink package was a deal breaker. One person in the cabin wanted to purchase the drink package and the other individual did not drink alcohol and was not going to consume that many non alcohol drinks in a day. Why would one cabin mates rights/beliefs be violated and they be forced to conform? Carnival told us that either both persons in the cabin buy the package or none will have the package. This was sad because we actually lost a couple of family members who cancelled their rooms.

Sometimes the rules need to be re-evaluated to fit the updated society standards.

The Cheers rule exists because Carnival knows if they let just one adult in a room purchase, it is possible (or better stated - highly likely) that both adults will "share" the one package (as in 7-8 drinks each per day).

If you had multiple who canceled their "rooms" as you said...all you have to do is when making reservations, put the drinkers all in one room/room.  Book a room/rooms with the non drinkers.  (if you have 2 couples going and staying a couple in each room, if the guys drink and the girls don't, book the guys together in one room and the girls together in another room) Once you get on the boat, get a courtesy key card for each one the room they want to be in.  Our PVP always books our rooms the cheapest way with kids/adults then we get courtesy keys so each can sleep in whatever room.

Requiring cabin mates to purchase the same drink package does not violates anyone's rights.  The package includes nonalcoholic drinks.  The updated society standards seem to be more about finding loopholes which is why all over 21 in a stateroom are required to purchase CHEERS
