If it is booked as one cruise, with one booking number, you just get the one credit of $250.

We are on that cruise, too!

Thanks - that's what I figured.  I hope then that we are not treated as "B2B" cruisers, and have to clear off the ship on the turnaround day.

It is not a matter of whether you are on a Collectors Cruise or a BtB, since it is a US port the passenger count must be zeroed out so all passengers must leave the ship.

I am not too worried about being under water on the price-I figured out that with my shipboard credit over the years, I am up at least $300-$500!  I've got other stock that's doing much better-my friend told me to buy some Morgan Stanley-that's gone up 300%!  Wish I bought more!

Just sent my information in an email to HAL at the email you suggested Rich. They must like you better because I immediately got this response:

Thank you for contacting Holland America Line.  We have received your message and are committed to assisting you as quickly as possible.

Due to unprecedented email volumes our response time is taking longer, and you should receive a response from us within 10- 14 days. Some issues may require additional research or review with our partners and take a bit longer.
We know waiting this long for a response is not ideal. If you have an existing reservation for travel within the next 30 days, and you would like to make changes, you may check online to see if it qualifies for our Book with Confidence Policy<https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/book-with-confidence.html>. Changes or cancellation submissions on bookings affected by our temporary Pause of Global Operations are also honored online<https://book2.hollandamerica.com/cp/> for existing reservations.

Thank you for taking the time to write and we look forward to welcoming you on board Holland America Line soon.

I got that message also as an auto reply, but still got the actual response quickly. I don't think they have changed the auto reply since this mess began.

2:39 - sent message

2:43 - auto reply

2:51 - confirmation reply

I sent ours off yesterday, Haven't heard anything yet - did you get an email?

I got an auto message reply Saturday right after I emailed them and then received a confirmation email this morning. But, I also requested that they email me confirmation when it had been applied. In the past, I have forgotten to request confirmation and then I didn’t receive confirmation, so I called them to make sure they had received it. Did you request confirmation?

I just got the confirmation for three out of the four. One hour and thirty minutes and it is done. I am impressed. They sent another email saying they were sorry but since I had booked through a casino deal I couldn't get OBC for shares with that cruise. It all good. Very fast response.

Learn something new every day.  I didn't know that OBC didn't go with a casino deal so that is something to consider when booking. You also don't get some of the other credits but it is still such a good deal and the other three got credit so I'm not complaining, just learning.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to apply the shareholder benefit to booking C-----  due to the fare your reservation is booked under (Exclusive Casino Fare).  The shareholder benefit is not combinable with reduced-rate promotions or guests traveling under an employee, interline, or friend and family type fares.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. "

How many among us now wish that we had bought more of whatever we now own?

Is there a "window" beyond the minimum of 3 weeks for submitting the proof of ownership? (A maximum time prior to the cruise)

Yes apparently there is. I emailed today for the 4 cruises we have booked (Oct 2021, Feb 2022, July 2022 and Oct 2022) and they got back to me (4 hrs later!) saying the first 3 had been applied but that it was too early for the Oct 2022.  Looks like the window is 1 year.

The benefit is voted on each year and goes thru July (I believe), so Oct 2022 has not yet been approved by the board of Carnival Corp

I just verified -- The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2022 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits should be made at least three weeks prior to cruise departure date.

Sorry if this has been already answered, I could not find it using search. Can I get the shareholder OBC for two cabins on the same sailing? One cabin for me and one of my kids, second one for another kid and my sister? Thank you!

Only 1 stockholder credit can be applied to a cabin and a person named on the account must be in the cabin. If the account has two names on it (ie - Mr & Mrs Smith) it has been reported that if the couple is split between the two cabins each cabin can get the credit and cabin assignments can be changed once everyone is on board

Thanks so much for the reminder. I just sent a request via email for two cruises, 7 months out, and in literally five minutes, I got a confirmation of OBC upon embarkation! woo hoo. Love this forum!  Thanks for posting!

  • 1 month later...

Just FYI: I have a number of cruises planned, and am a new CCL Stockholder. The three HAL cruises booked through 5/22 were all approved. The forth (9/22) and fifth (4/23) were rejected and advised to resubmit after (if) the stockholder benefit is extended.

The current stockholder benefit states "The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2022 aboard the brands listed below..."

So nothing after 7/22 is being approved.

Also of note is that I have also just booked last week my first Carnival cruise (1/22 out of Galveston - drivable port for us) and submitted in an OBC request (Note: different address for submittal).

So Yes - the available CCL stockholder benefit is a portion of our cruise line choice consideration. Not a big portion, but all things being equal, possibly a tipping factor. Cruises itineraries out of Galveston by RCL & Carnival are pretty much the same. Have done RCL ships, and about to do Carnival ship (but I suspect will about the same). Will see where I end up after comparing the quality of experience between the cruise lines.

Our long cruises are out of Florida & San Diego and are cruise destination based - and much more expensive, so the benefit is nice, but not a real consideration. As we approach the coveted HAL "Free Laundry" level - I have been...advised/directed...to only consider HAL.

HAL does not (yet) sail out of Galveston.

That’s the way it has always been.  CCL benefit is only applied to sailings in the time frame allowed.

Yes, it’s a one year approval from August  to July of the following year usually approved by the board in January or February of each year.

I would change one word in your post. I would change USUALLY approved to ALWAYS approved.

There is no reason to ever think it will not be routinely approved as it is a marketing tool that costs them practically nothing.
