How do cruises count for the 90 days max. in the EU/Schengen area post-Brexit?

Does anyone know how cruises are counted in relation to the 90 days we are allowed in a rolling 180 days.   Will sea days count?   Can't find a cruise line that has any idea.

Yes, if between two EU/Schengen ports. Do not know how sea days are counted if visiting ports outside Schengen - like visiting St. Petersburg.

Please note that Schengen also includes countries outside EU like Norway and Iceland.

Alternative if more than 180 days is a Schengen visa.

Cruise line doesnt need to have any idea - In your cruise contract

it will stipulate something like

"IMPORTANT: Visa and documentation requirements vary by destination

and change from time to time without prior notice. Guests should check

with the consulate of each country they will visit, or a visa service to verify

current regulations. It is the guest's responsibility to have proper travel documentation. They should reconfirm visa requirements with the

consulate 5-7 days prior to the cruise."

No, of course they don't need to have any idea, but it would be good customer service if they were able to answer the question. 

 

Visas and documentation requirement are irrelevant to my question.

That's another question.   Am looking at a cruise that goes to ports in Europe and also visits Morocco.    Nothing's ever straighforward!

I would assume sea days after a Schengen ports are within Schengen while sea days after a non-Schengen port prior to a Schengen arrival isn’t counted. My assumption!

Arrival into Schengen area after a non- Schengen port is a new Schengen arrival. If a visa is required for entry to Schengen a ‘multiple entry’ Schengen visa is required in this situation - many cruisers are not aware of this.

Ok, as a British passport holder you go on a 14 day cruise around Europe including Morocco.

At the first port of call, lets say France, French officials will board the ship and either scan or stamp your passport, that's day 1 of your 90 days. After a couple of port stops you arrive in Cadiz Spain, lets say, day 10. Spanish officials will board the ship and again either stamp or scan your passport. It does not matter if you get off the ship in the ports or stay on, from France to Cadiz you will have used up 9 days of your 90. Now the ship crosses over to Morocco and spends a day their, again you passport will be stamped or scanned, but it will not count towards your 90. The next day the ship returns to European waters and docks at Gibraltar, this will not count towards your 90 as Gibraltar is a British territory. Then the ship arrives in Lisbon for a day before heading back to England. Officials in Lisbon will board the ship and either scan or stamp your passport now you have used a total of 10 days of your 90. It does not matter if you stay on the ship or get off at port calls as your passport will be updated at each port.
