Nope, will never cruise again.  I'm thinking maybe 60% of the population will get the poison.  There is no way the mandate would stay past a  year or two.  It would be the end of cruising with the losses that they've had already and the losses from the people who won't get it. We love to cruise and so do my kids but there's plenty of other things to do.  Not being a lab rat for a virus with a 99.6% survival rate.

GOOD! I'm very glad that anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers are self-selecting themselves off cruise ships. By definition they are not the kind of people I want to sail with anyway so thanks to them for not being on board.

Think about school settings. It's often 1 or 2 adults to 20 to 30 children with strict mask enforcement and distancing rules in place. It's far different on a cruise ship with 10 people crammed into an elevator, sitting maskless eating with 5 to 6 people inside the 6 ft circle.  Shipboard life is far different then land side.

I think the results of the RCL Israel cruise with vaccinations required 16+ will provide a valuable data set to determine if it is safe for under 16 nonvaccinated people to be on a cruise. Personally, I'm in the 100% vaccination group but it is looking more like an acceptable risk for 12+ being fully vaccinated.

I think your assumption, assuming I've understood you correctly, is that cruise ship life post-Covid will continue to be the free-for-all it was before. I don't think so, especially not at first. In a nutshell, my wife and I don't care to be packed like sardines no matter what. On MSC, we stay in the Yacht Club, which is pretty exclusive to start with, and thinking back on it, I'd say we never go where there are throngs of people. About the only time we're around lots of others is walking around on deck in the fresh air, and we're continually told that's the 1 place you definitely don't need a mask. Even the elevators are a non-issue, I've not heard of a single case of Covid coming from someone who spent the roughly 1-2 minutes we typically do in a lift. But again, life on board won't be like it was, at first.

That's not true in most schools that have been fully open since the summer.  Distancing really isn't followed at all, just cohorting among classes. Elementary kids aren't wearing masks and teachers don't have to wear a mask when teaching from the front of the classroom.

I like the three stooges. Dr. Seuss I don't recall. It was something to read in the doctors waiting room. We didn't have it at home.

How would they know?  There was a case in our town that was accredited to elevator use and I wondered the same thing.  How would you know?   The virus could be on the buttons someone pushed, could be just floating in the air.....or it could be the person you walked by in a hall.  How could you possibly know?

In most schools in our area, teachers and students are required to wear masks.  Also interesting that in many of our area schools,  approximately 1/3 of parents have CHOSEN to keep their children home to do virtual rather than return to in-person instruction.

Ummm- not true here? That must be a location specific thing.

"Logic" from someone who asked a silly question about smallpox?

A contractor would have no reason to know someone else's vaccination status. If he has so little regard for his customers that he and his unvaccinated workers enter peoples homes, I wouldn't want to deal with that company. The logic behind wearing masks and getting the vaccine is to protect not only yourself, but those around you. It's sad that this very simple principle is lost on so many people.

Yes, logic because there are plenty of deadly diseases that have not been eradicated, meaning they're still around.  What makes Covid different from those?  I believe some of them are even deadlier if you catch them.

Sort of like the people who feel everyone should wear masks... even if you're outside on a trail with no one in 100' of you.  (Not saying this is you or PP, but they're out there).  My son and I just got back from a soccer tournament (outdoor).  The rule was everyone (even the players) had to wear masks.  BUT there was no rule saying the masks had to cover the mouth much less the nose.  Sure enough, most players had them as "chin warmers" (if they were around the ears kind) or "neck warmers".

I won't forget when this whole thing was starting, some news organization was doing a story about how people were spraying packages with disinfectant.   OK, I get it, back then we didn't know how it was spreading.  But the video was showing a woman spraying bleach (I think that's what it was- it wasn't water, some kind of cleaner) on a 40lb bag of dog food.   Some hole in the bag and now the bleach is on the dog food.  Probably not a good idea.

Your mixing the government and private areas. The federal government might not require or force the vaccine, but businesses can require what ever they want.

Oh, the same businesses that won't enforce a mask mandate?  They're going to put someone at the door and make everyone show they've been vaccinated?  Highly doubt it's going to happen.

Cruise lines have two reasons to require vaccines...

1) The government (any government) might require it for them to be in business to start with or to visit.

2) They need to battle the PR issue of appearing as "floating petri dishes".

The difference is COVID has killed half a million Americans this year! How many Americans have even contracted smallpox, let alone died from it? Good grief!

I realize the cruise lines are in a different situation now BUT, I worry that the cruise lines will do what they do, when it comes to in forcing the rules, look the other way.

There are many rules that are constantly broken by passengers(ie smoking on balconies)

or faked (ie the sympathy companion pet)

I'd love to know that the cruise lines, will indeed, In force the vaccination mandate NO EXCEPTIONS, PERIOD

Not Royal as there is no vaccine for kids. You’ll have better luck with a non family line such as Virgin or one of the smaller firms.

I don't think Royal can wait, sailing with no kids at reduced capacity is still profitable and better than, not sailing and waiting for kids get vaccinated

Why would they have to wait? They are already sailing in Israel with the same policy, vaccine requirement for 16+ only.
