No but on a similiar train of thought ,a friend of mine told me today that in NYC people are able to get the vaccine if they are physically unable to leave their homes. The Health Department will send someone to give them them the vaccine.

They are doing that here in texas too, home visits for those home bound.

When do the trials start for dogs, cats, hamsters and fish?  Never know.....

"An orangutan named Karen, the first in the world to have open-heart surgery in 1994, has made medical history again: She’s among the first great apes to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

In February, Karen, three other orangutans, and five bonobos at the San Diego Zoo have received two doses each of an experimental vaccine for animals developed by a veterinary pharmaceutical company, says Nadine Lamberski, chief conservation and wildlife health officer at the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance".

Cannot figure out why everyone thinks the vaccine is the ultimate end all.

I guess I think vaccines did a good job on eradicating polio and smallpox, measles, mumps and rubella and other diseases that used to wipe out large segments of society. As far as Covid 19 goes, there isn't too much else out there for hope, so I'm hoping the vaccine gets us back to semi normal.

I want the tattoo instead - small barcode on the back of my neck that TSA can scan which allows me to move freely across state lines.

I'm not to keen on inking up as technology could change and then I'd have an outdated bar code. I'll stick to the paper method for the time being.

I hope they refund cruises for people who can not get the vaccine (we have one planned for July).  Our family has autoimmune issues.  We can not get the vaccine, but did get Covid.  Two days and our whole family was over it.  I never had symptoms.  So, that would be a shame if we never get to cruise again as we are relatively young.  But, I guess with a 99.9% recovery rate in our age group and everyone else on board is vaccinated it's too big of a risk.  I wish they would allow us to sign something that says if we get sick we pay for the cost of everything ourselves.  We love cruising and I would take the chance.  Covid for us was easier than a cold.  It went away faster and we had less symptoms.

I still have an issue with the fact that if you have the vaccine why it matters if I don't?  You are protected, right?  And if you are not, why get the vaccine in the first place?  If you can still get Covid and transmit Covid, what exactly does the vaccine do?  You will still have a ship load of people in close quarters getting off at ports where they can pick up Covid and bringing it back to the ship.  If it makes the illness less intense then you should be able to get over it easily and there will be no reason to hospitalize, quarantine, etc on the ship.  Just saying.  Yes I am a little upset that because we can't get the vaccine we may not ever be able to cruise or fly again.  We should be covered by ADA.  It isn't our fault.  Sorry, had to vent.

Lots of questions. No good answers. I’m going to say this. It’s not know yet if a vaccinated person can or can not infect others if they have the virus. There seems to be some data that suggests maybe the viral load may not become enough to infect others. The biggest concern, the cruise lines don’t want an active case onboard. If the 5% gets really sick, then they want the best odds onboard to prevent others getting sick (unvaccinated). If they allow one exception, then there will be others.

Not sure it’s known how long the antibodies will last.

Sorry you’re in this situation.

I have had it as well.  Just wondering if I need the vaccine.  We were quarantined over Christmas.

The last research I read said that antibodies from having Covid last about 6-8 months. How long the antibodies last from the jab are not known as the vaccine is too new.

The prevailing feeling is that a yearly jab will be needed, similar to the flu shot.

YMMV

I’ve heard less time, 3/4, but that could be conservative numbers. Those in long term care those who have had it, and lived, are getting vaccinated about a month after recovery here in Ontario. They aren’t waiting much time to give them.

I too have heard this.  I have also heard that the second doses given “today” might become a thing of the past in the near future as more studies are done and data rolls in. That is because the single dose for all vaccines is having a great effect. The second doses might become obsolete.  In Canada the Health Canada Advisory Board has stated that the second dose can be given as late as 4 months after the first.  Not sure how I feel about this, as I’d rather follow the manufacture’s guidelines.

It is a wait and see.

I hate needles too.    But I got my first shot today and didn't feel a thing.    I always look away and didn't even know she was done till she started to re-adjust my sleeve.

On my first shot, I didn't even feel it...had to ask if she had given it to me (I look away also 😉 )...but the second one...sheezz!!  Ouch!

Only for about 3 months at most, according to my sister.  (An infectious disease specialist doctor).

Wait till later. Your arm may get real sore. I couldn't sleep very well last night after getting my shot yesterday. My arm was really sore. Today it is getting much better.

My arm is slight sore at injection site this morning.   Slept horrible.  Tossed and turned most of the night.  Other than being tired I feel fine after my first shot of pfizer vaccine.

I keep hearing the 2nd one is where you really feel the side effects.

So what’s the latest on test cruises?  Sorry, being a bit cynical.  Never thought there would be test cruises once the RCL number crunchers did their thing.  Adding to medical facilities.  Physical distancing.  More staff for more sanitizing and service.  Less revenue possibly if capacity is limited.  Less take in the casino.  Less revenue from drink and drink packages.  Same for specialty dining, etc.  And then no idea what ports would be open to a stop by a cruise ship.  Sounds like a deal breaker to me.  Wait it out until the vaccines get administered and then require one for booking.  I know  that the vaccine would not “guarantee” that the virus wouldn’t pop up on a cruise, but if you have all crew and passengers vaccinated, how likely is that?  How much more likely than norovirus?  Ports?  We may be getting to the point that a lot of countries, especially Caribbean, might be willing to open up to a visit by a cruise ship if it has been told all passengers and crew have been vaccinated.

News reporting this morning stated over 200,000 people have applied for the test cruises...only 1,000

are being allowed.  Way more Guinea Pigs lining up than space to put them.  😉

I'd prefer an RFID chip like Bella. Right behind her neck.

It doesn't bother her, she seems happy

Feeling Deja Vu right now.....or is it more like Groundhog day??

I feel the same way whenever the topic of masks or social restrictions (i.e. lockdowns) comes up. Those topics are so last year. Lol

At least if or when  to get a 2 jab is a fresh spin on a current topic. 🙂

Antibodies don't last forever, and from what I have heard, yes, you should still get the vaccine.

So if a yearly jab is required to maintain immunity, I guess the unvaccinated who have had the virus will need to catch COVID annually to maintain theirs.  🤢
