My periodontist is great but my dentist broke a tooth that couldn’t be repaired. All that was left was the root. And it was the tooth for my bridge.

Which is why I go back tomorrow for the final bit of surgery and the final verdict.  Ugh.  Scared stiff

I don’t need to be on the Care list - it will be what it will be. Hate dentists and have never been to a periodontist so much in my life let alone in  in the midst of a pandemic.

Oh no! Jacqui, that’s awful! And what is going on here? @dfishyour ‘new’ dentist does NOT sound like a keeper. Our appliance gremlin seems to have been replaced by the tooth gremlin. The appliance gremlin was less expensive and less painful!

Last October my dentist broke my tooth.  There weren’t many options so I went to my periodontist who was pretty livid as he let it slip he told her not to touch it and he would handle my bridge.

Long story short.  I was screwed as the tooth was useless so no bridge would hold.

My periodontist and another specialist that he pulls in and I had long chats on the right thing to do.  I made the move based on what I was dealing with and the prognosis.

I’ve been through a 5 hour surgery so this is a piece of cake.  My worry is - did it take?  I’m a worry wart by nature and I’ve never been lucky with my teeth but one of the surgery assistants would love some chili plants so they are going with me tomorrow.  Hopefully it may  bring me some  luck.  In any case, all the staff there have been very kind with my questions and worries and follow ups.

Sorry you are having so many problems.  Hope everything goes well tomorrow.

i’m not fond of dentists, but went every six months for cleaning, so a lot has been caught early.  One hygienist hinted that I might have a periodontist in my future, but the the one before her and after her never even hinted at that, nor has the dentist.

i need to make an appointment for cleaning as it’s been 18 months because of the pandemic.  Not looking forward to it.

We were on the Statendam with Captain Albert for 28 days, from Ft. Lauderdale to San Diego return.  On the first transit of the canal, we also had a submarine in the lock next to us. Much smaller than the pictures of the submarine that were posted earlier.  There were no markings to tell where it was from.  We also did a partial transit on the Zuiderdam. And are looking forward to another full transit on the 2023 Grand SA Voyage.

Dinner tonight was Penne a la Vodka, from a recipe from the Canaletto.

@rafinmdSorry to hear you weren't accepted for the trial. Your doctors will find the right solution for you.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this.  Just what we need - a dental gremlin.  I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow.

I was a bit put off because when I broke the thing I called right away but they did not have a single opening for over a month.   I had an upcoming appointment for the cavity and I asked if we could switch that out for the broken tooth and a crown prep.  I was told yes.  So, I went in yesterday and they didn't want to do it.  I stuck to my guns and she did do the crown prep, but she wanted me to go another month.  To me, that is just an invitation for infection.   Interesting tidbit on that.  Now that the crown prep is done they managed to find an appointment in two weeks to seat the permanent crown and they'll have time to do the cavity as well.  I should ask them to email the x-rays to my sister.  She a dental hygienist and she brought up the irony of all my cavities recently.

Now, I don't think the appliance gremlin is gone.   Windows did an update and my printer went offline.  I tried every fix that was suggested until the last one.  The last one was uninstall and reinstall.  So, I figured why not.  Nothing else worked.  So, I uninstalled.  Now I cannot reinstall to save my life.  The computer cannot find the printer.

My husband has had the same convo with his new (no longer) dentist.....it got to be ridiculous --- he changed dentists & voila!  back to no cavities....

It may come to that.

Unfortunately, I just got the call from University of Maryland.  They have concluded that the second trial will also not work for me.  It will be a few more days to get into remaining alternatives.

Roy

So sorry that you have also missed out on this trial.

Hopefully you will soon be informed of alternative treatment.

Thanks for all the daily information.

Recently we were speaking of our 28 day San Diego to Fort Lauderdale return to San Diego on the Statendam.  The Panama Canal transit was such an interesting experience.

Those Panama Buns were delicious.

Thanks for all the Canal photos, bringing back good memories.

@kazu  horrified to read of your dental trauma, hope that the dentist responsible is covering the costs of the repair   Good luck tomorrow.

Raining here today.

Take care everyone.

Thanks and yikes on your printer.

I would unplug everything tonight and retry tomorrow.

If it’s an air print (wifi) printer, it should work You might need to re-input you wifi password?  I hit that problem before in case it helps.

Really??  I don’t need sarcasm tonight thanks.  My bridge needed to be removed and the force she used broke my tooth.

I’m sorry if I sound nasty but I am scared for tomorrow.  I’ve had two specialists look at that tooth and the conclusion was the same.  A broken tooth hurts big time.  It never hurt until the attempt to remove the bridge.

Welcome to the new world and what can happen.  And it’s not fun now.  Sheesh.

Good evening everyone!  I’m late today!  I had a full day starting with pedicures with DM, DD, and DD’s BF:

It was for DD’s 40th birthday this Sunday and the BF tagged along. I wish I could get Craig to come sometime.

That took a while because they were busy and afterward we went to lunch for Mexican food. The place we like has this appetizer called Mexican Pizza:

I had a Chili Relleno, yum.

DD learned ASL while in Middle School and I encouraged her to pursue it as a career because she was a natural but we know what happens when you do that, they do the opposite.

We did a full transit Panama Canal on the Volendam May 2000.  I’ll have to search for pictures some other time. It was quite an experience and a cruise I’d like to do again.

I haven’t read all 5+ pages of today’s Daily yet!  Wow, busy day. Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy.

Have a great evening everyone!

I wish 😉 I’m not litigious and the tooth may have partially calcified looking at the base.  It is what it is (don’t like the expression but in this case, it’s true).

Found my pictures from my May 2007 Panama Canal Cruise.  Here are some random photos.  I should mention that the Noordam got some touch up painting at our next stop after going through the locks. I think we had a pretty good crowd watching us from the observation decks because it was her first time through the Canal.

These were on my back up files from an old computer.  I'm not sure if they will come out okay.

Dental problems are such a pain (literally) and can also be prolonged and expensive.  I cracked my back molar on the top and it couldn't be saved. I eventually decided to go with a dental implant.  It worked out well, but it took forever, included a bone graft and cost a fortune.  And when my dentist finally went to screw that little gold sucker in, he dropped it on the back of my tongue!  "Don't swallow, don't swallow, don't swallow!!"  Fortunately he rescued it. My youngest daughter had a cracked tooth that she lost and she just wrapped up having a bridge put in.  Our family has not had a lot of luck with our teeth!

I hope @kazuthat everything goes okay. And may all the gremlins cut it out, we need a break.

Just logged on this evening. Most of you are well done with Thursday and into Friday.

So sorry, Roy.  Hang in there.  Praying for you to get some answers to the alternatives.
Now to go back to first page to see the rest of today’s news.

DH. and I, with my parents were fortunate enough to be able to do a full transit Panama Canal Cuise to celebrate the Millenium. Aboard the Ryndam with Captain Johnathan Mercer, always my favorite HAL Captain.  Ours was an 11 days cruise from Acapulco to Fort Lauderdale. Remember the Cruise Log's? I actually saved this one.  On 01/02/20 at 6:33am the canal pilot came aboard; at 8:40am we entered the Miraflores Locks, at 10:20am we entered the Pedro Miguel Locks , at 2:30pm we entered the Gatun Locks and at 4:30 we disembarked the canal pilot and enter the Carribbean Sea.

I did find some photos that I was able to put on my cell phone but I do not know how to transfer and publish here.

🙂If you need to send photos from your phone to a computer, you can use email, Google Photos, or even a direct cable connection.🤓If all else fails look up a "youtube" video. ✏️  Seems like I "google" everything nowadays, LOL ! 😉

Yes, would rather have rain than snow,  gardens need the rain.  Sad for you to be getting more snow.

The 2nd option sounds like a good one.    I had one printer once (and HP) which would act up all the time.  I finally gave up on it and sent it to electronics recycling and bought a new Canon.

I usually get my printers when there are major Boxing Day etc sales on, order on line & pick up at the store.  They are so cheap that I decided my time was worth enough not to get frustrated with the dam printer that wouldn’t work.

Good luck.  Wish I were more of a techie so I could help. 😔

I decided to try the unplug everything and then turn it all back on, one thing at a time.  That worked.  I can print again!  I figured that wouldn't hurt anything and it is the first thing Matt would have asked me.

I got this printer not too long ago when I grew frustrated trying to keep the other one online and communicating.  The new printer had the same problem.  Every time Windows does an upgrade it gets kicked offline.  Usually, it is just a matter of turning it off and back on again.  It grew more frustrating.  I bought a new computer last summer, not just because of the printer, but that was one consideration.  It worked just fine until this last Windows upgrade.

I’ve  lost 2 systems to Windows updates. The most recent one was the devastating Fall update some 4 years ago. ( That took down several friends systems too.) It went all night and when I restarted the next morning I got the Blue Screen.

Now when ever  there is a Windows update, I usually say “Bye bye System. It was nice while it lasted.” DH usually is at his system in the other room and he responds “Another update?“ He’s still running Windows 7.
