Cancelled Cruise FCC and OBC

Recommended Posts

My PVP is on vacation this week.  I know I have seen this question on the board before but I have spent almost an hour searching and have not found the answer yet.  If Carnival cancels my cruise and I take the FCC/OBC option can it be applied to a cruise I already have booked before the cancelation or on new bookings only?  I found an article online that was from last year that said the cruise has to be booked after the FCC was issued but I really thought I'd read that wasn't the case.

I asked this question previously as well because I am in the same situation in about 3 weeks when July gets canceled. I have been told here and directly by my TA that I can apply the FCC and the $600 OBC (its an 8-night cruise) to the one that is already booked in November. I spoke with my TA for over an hour the other day on this because the FUBAR'd my final payment date by not moving it to the end of May.

My Scenario: July Mardi Gras Cruise (soon to be canceled); November Magic cruise already booked; When the Mardi Gras is canceled, all funds will go to FCC and move to the November Magic cruise along with the $600 OBC.

If this was not the case, I would cancel the July Mardi Gras right now. This was what I discussed with my TA while the discussed it with CCL on the phone.

Glad to hear everything transferred okay for you. I'm wondering if you had cancelled July, would you have taken a hit? I'm not sure because I've never had to cancel. Also, are these temporary rules because of the Covid shutdown.

I won't know if I was lied to yet or not until CCL cancels July. But, when my TA hit the Final Payment the other day, I was not happy. I spent an hour with them and CCL on getting the charges reversed and answering this exact question. I will be furious if I was lied to because I would have canceled this cruise weeks ago if the FCC+OBC does not transfer to an existing booking.

I think you'll be fine if Carnival worked with you to resolve it. Most cases they just tell people sorry, you have to work strictly through the TA.

I thought there would be a penalty if we cancel, thought we had to wait for them to cancel. Seems there may have been a temporary change during the shutdown?

Those that booked for July received an email that they have the option to cancel and receive a full refund until the end of May, with no penalty. This was due to the uncertainty about July and the short turn around time for people to utilize other vacation options. I am not sure if this offer has been given to people booked other months.

The TA talked with CCL directly to ask, but that is the same agency that said my final payment was moved to May 31st but charged me on April 15th. I wanted it in writing but they won't. It will be a pain in the rear having to fight with the TA and CCL to cancel and rebook November just to get the $600OBC if they lied to me.

Thanks for the updates. I know things have been crazy with all the rebooking. I don't have to worry until maybe having to get a final payment extension in late July to see if we're cancelled for Oct.17. I only have a little tied up right now and would rather ride it out on the chance we can cruise by 10/17.

Yes, my May cruise was canceled and I clicked on the link at bottom of cancelation email. It has you to fill out canceled cruise info and cruise booking number that you want FCC and OBC applied to. They added it to my already booked cruise for next May 2022.  My May 2022 cruise was booked before my canceled May 2021 cruise. Took them 1 day. I had called twice and both times was told THEY filled out form, but never got anywhere. Did it myself with cancelation email link at bottom of form.

Hi there, I HOPE MY QUESTION makes sense.  My sister and I booked a cruise for April 2021 which was cancelled.  It was paid in full.  We took future cruise credit and Carnival also gave us $600.00 OBC which we would split obviously..Fast forward....We have booked a new cruise for next May 2022...Had a super deal and when all was said and done, the cruise was 500.00 less than the previous cancelled cruise....We had all our credits so we paid in full....still leaving 500 plus 300 OBC EACH...SO 800.00 TOTAL....HERE is my question.  Do I have to spend all $800.00 OBC on the ship or can I cash out MY (not theirs) 500.00

obc that was left over from my money.....thanks everyone, hope this makes sense

This came up in an earlier thread. Yes, I believe you can cash out your overpayment via the casino slots using your S&S card. The OBC they gave you for rebooking, you use it or lose while onboard.

We used our excess cash towards another cruise.  But the OBC credit?  You use it or lose it.  It can apply it to shore excursions if you are still on the fence on which one to choose. (Book when you get on board) Drinks, Dinner in specialty restaurants, pictures, gifts, etc.  Have a great cruise!

Cherry on top, the candy store I'm told sells gift certificates you can buy with obc. I never had trouble spending obc myself and I've even done the 25% obc from my 25th cruise.

I promised myself a new watch for starters. I have 750 obc for this sept. Dont anticipate having trouble spending it. Im solo so its just me spending it. Dont forget tips, excursions and why not a steak dinner or two? The shops always lure me into buying something.
