Resorts World Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

I found this of interest on the web yesterday.  Genting has been busy.  The following is a summary of the article.

Resorts World Las Vegas will open its doors 24 June 2021 on the Las Vegas Strip (www.rwlasvegas.com).  In partnership with Hilton Hotels & Resorts they will offer 3,500 luxury rooms and suites.  Also see Resorts World Las Vegas news on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and Instagram

RWLV is being developed by Genting Berhad, a publicly traded Malaysian corporation.  The company has affiliated operations in the Americas, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and the Bahamas.  Visit www.genting.com

The Las Vegas campus will have a Virgin Hotel (already open), a Conrad and the new Las Vegas Hilton. The downside is that the location is at a far end of the strip, not so easily accessible to the main part of the strip (Bellagio, Caesar's, Paris, etc.)

That’s not an accident...  Most important to my industry, it’s attached to the Las Vegas Convention Center’s long-awaited expansion.  Until now, if participants wanted an adjacent casino property, they had to stay at the (less than ideal) Westgate.

Even at the north end it’s not TOO isolated — it’s caddy-corner from the Wynn/Encore and a few (LONG) Vegas blocks from the Palazzo/Venetian/TI/Mirage block.  Definitely a problem if everything you want is at the other end of the strip though.

Also, I think the Virgin is a different property...  Isn’t that what the Hard Rock became?  The third hotel in RWLV became a Crockfords repped by LXR I believe.

Vince,

As you well know, every block in LV is a LONG block.  The scale of those resorts suckers you into thinking "it's right next door."  Then 25 minute later you're still walking and "right next door" doesn't seem to be getting any nearer.  And it's 92F("but hey man, it's a dry heat.")  I mean, walking cross town in Manhattan is a 5 minute stroll compared to LV.

And yes, the Virgin is the former Hard Rock, on Paradise.

Still, I miss what may be the most uniquely American city.

You mean you are actually....gasp....walking down the Strip in LV??

Not me.

It was once the Stardust property.  The convention center is not that close and it's closed.

Only the tourists walk it. Everyone else ubers now. A few take cabs.

I was there during the first days of Covid at the Mandalay Bay. The Luxor - next door - closed the day after I left due to 2 staff members getting Covid.  It's made me weary of travel for a while.

You’re thinking of the north/south/central halls...  The west hall (where the Riv was) will be attached to RWLV, and is now open — not that there are a LOT of conventions happening.

I live in Las Vegas! Be careful about thinking you are going to take an Uber or Lyft anywhere in town. There is a huge deficit of these vehicles available because of a change the Governor made concerning "SURGE PRICING". (Not allowing it). Also if you rent a car be prepared to pay for parking at Caesars properties. MGM / Wynn still have Free Parking. Also, there is extremely limited Valet Parking. I think Treasure Island still has it available. First conventions are beginning with the World of Concrete on 8 June 2021 bringing in about 100,000 visitors.

I was just in Las Vegas.  Here is the Resorts World building as seen from my window at the Palazzo/Venetian.  As Vince stated, the Wynn/Encore is near, as well as the Trump Hotel and Fashion Show Mall.  I like this part of the strip.

I live in Vegas.  Lots of excitement about the Resorts World opening.  Celine Dion will be one of the "resident performers."  The management team is headed by an ex-MGM executive.

Of note to those concerned about Genting's financial situation...I haven't heard about any contractors and sub-contractors complaining about not getting paid.  If they weren't getting paid, it would be all over the local news.  They are not a shy bunch.

Looking forward to seeing Celine on her debut weekend at Resort's World!  Love the look of the rooms at  Crockfords, but really disappointed with the nearly all Asian dining.  Will probably stay across the street at Wynn/Encore.

Different strokes…. That’s about the only saving grace of the property for me.  😁

Of course, lots of people complain that Crystal has two different Asian venues for dinner, and I complain that Crystal ONLY has two Asian venues for dinner.  😁

Next year we're having a big family wedding for our niece on Dick's (Chinese) side of the family.

I have been hinting to the mother-of-the bride that she should book Genting RW Las Vegas for the reception because there will be plenty of opportunities for Asian dining there.
