Move to Included amenities

I think all of the cruiselines have one goal.  They want to get people out on their ships and bring back their employees.  They've already lost a small fortune being shut down for the past year.  Carnival has sold off several older ships over the past year for scrap.  A lot of people are afraid to jump back into cruising, so everyone is offering whatever it takes to fill their ships.

From what I've seen on another website today, the CDC is requiring that in order to sail from US ports they are requiring 98% of all staff to be fully vaccinated as well as at least 95% of all guests.  When reading some of the booking requirements for a few different cruiselines, some say that anyone under age 16 won't be allowed to cruise since they can't be vaccinated.  What???  In addition to proving that you've been fully vaccinated, you will also have to provide a negative PCR test a few days before sailing.  Some cruiselines are also giving everyone an antigen test before getting on the ship and again before returning to your debarkation port.  The only thing I didn't read anything about was if masks would also be required on the ship.  That would probably be a deal-breaker for me.  What a mess.

The only mass market line that is requiring 100% fully vaccinated cruisers is NCL.  RCI and Celebrity are requiring 100% adults and negative tested kids for their outside the US embarkations.

The new CDC guidelines require 95% vaccinated as you mentioned.  So, if there are 3000 passengers, 150 of them can be kids, which would fulfill the 5% maximum.  Once the 12-15 age group can get vaccinated,  then the 150 kids can come from 11 and under.

I would wait for clarification of what the cdc means before you make assumptions. None of us know yet what the cdc means. Someone said the stock went down yesterday on the good news. The problem is none of the cruiselines have come out and said exactly what their polices will be for sure.

People on my sept roll call waiting for carnival to say.

I think it's a safe assumption.  95% vaccinated is 95% vaccinated, not 95% adults vaccinated and all the unvaccinated kids that you want.  It's true that the CDC was not crystal clear, but if they meant 95% adults vaccinated all they had to do was insert 1 word which they didn't.

It is hard to believe that some would read the 95% requirement as excluding children not yet eligible. It shows a basic lack of reading comprehension, or maybe wishful thinking.

95% vaccinated means 95% vaccinated...no lack of reading comprehension.  You interpret how you like and so will I.  The CDC did not mention children at all.  When NCL came out with their policy of 100% vaccinated, that meant 100% vaccinated and children are not given a waiver, they are not allowed on board.  I interpret the CDC 95% vaccinated in the same vein, with 95 % vaccinated meaning everyone on board.  At this time the vaccines are available for 16+.  By the time the cruises start, the 12-15 age range will have vaccines.

I've constantly got the wifi pkg OR the drinks pkg offered. 45 pp per day extra it says, though when I drink down that's a price from florida, but it gives you a idea. Based on 2 in the cabin is my issue as I'm solo so its 90 pp per day extra. That's a heck of a lot extra for wifi!!! But I get a email for the wifi pkg every time it restarts. Current offer is good thru the end of may.

They need to keep offering the base price or the prices for solos will be so high they will go elsewhere where they get better pricing. I assumed everyone got the wifi and drinks offers.

I've noticed since some of these other cruiselines are including everything their cruises work out to cost less than Carnival. And as much as I love Carnival Celebrity is a luxury cruiseline and Carnival is supposed to be the more budget friendly line.

For instance I looked at a Carnival Cruise and a Celebrity cruise that were the same length and similar itineraries. When I  added in gratuities, Cheers and WiFi to the Carnival cruise, the total came to well over $1000 more on Carnival over Celebrity

Why are you arguing with me? We are saying the same thing. There seem to be some who somehow think 95% means 95% of those eligible, which would take children out of the equation. And I think some would hope it would also eliminate those eligible who refuse for medical or so called religious reasons. But we both see that that is not what it says.

The price of any persons cruise really depends on the offers they get. Casino offers obviously being some of the best. Not everyone will be the same on any given line. Too me the best way to compare would to just do a booking as someone who has never sailed.

I'm hearing all kinds of ways for them to save us money, but this company has no need to change anything.  Demand for sailing is high. All they need to do is start sailing and we all will bring our money and give it to them.

Some in the casino, some at the bar, some at the spa,  steakhouse, etc.they dont HAVE to change anything, we will be back when they are back.

A game I like to play on here is go to the last line of a thread and read the last few posts and then guess what the original topic was.

Then the choice would be obvious. Unfortunately when we've priced a cruise in order to book Celebrity hasn't come close. But we keep hoping.

We got super lucky just before the pandemic started and got a celebrity cruise for 800 pp. This was for a beautiful balcony cabin. All in it was 1900 for my husband and I. We got 100 OBC, unlimited internet, gratuities paid and unlimited drinks. And its nice because they dont have all the restrictions Carnival has with Cheers. My husband could get 2 beers at one time so we could just go relax on our balcony

Would including the Cheers drink package on their private islands be doable? Would a beer only package work at a cheaper price?

Other cruise lines allow you to use the beverage packages at their private resort based experiences.

Royal and Celebrity allows it at Labadee.  MSC allows it at Ocean Cay.  NCL does not allow it at Harvest Caye.
