If vaccinations are required, how are the cruise lines going to check for compliance?

FWIW: MD Offices that are accepting patients’ claims of vaccination from another source solely on the patient’s word or even display of the card received at vaccination may be doing a disservice to those patients since the card does not have all the information related to the vaccine (which will be entered in the existing or newly created medical record at the facility providing the vaccine.
Like any medical record, the cleanest transfer of history/procedures/inoculations is “provider to provider” communication which is most easily/accurately accomplished by patient signing a ROI and vaccine provider sending the info to the intended recipient. Of course, MyChart and syncable similar systems make this so easy.

Do we need to take any steps to release the info on MyChart?  Thanks.

I’m not sure how much custom differentiation there is from one provider’s version of MyChart to another’s. I do know that UCSF’s version allows sharing the record, linking records, etc. Here’s a screen shot of part of their “Share”’ page.

That works, thanks.   Guess I need to do some legwork to make sure the records are available provider to provider, & etc.

FWIW: Step 1 is to determine how many of your providers use MyChart and I’m pretty sure all of them can be linked and accessible when you sign into any one of them (there’s a choice for “switch” providers) in each record. From what I understand, the “share” feature is for communicating with providers who may not  have MyChart (or a syncable product also in the “Epic” family).

Also FWIW: once I decided that I want UCSF to provide as much of my care as is possible/advisable, I got every non-UCSF electronic health item I had (radiology CDs, PDF lab and visit reports, etc) and I submitted them all to UCSF for upload to my MyChart records. It’s now as close as I can get to a complete electronic medical history as is possible.

But, it definitely takes time and effort. And it can be done piecemeal as well. Seeing a specialist? Give his office everything you have related to that specialty. And, if you’re a geezer like me, you’ll eventually get all the records loaded.

As an aside I received my vaccinations from the clinic that my primary is associated with, although they were administered a few towns over and not at the office my provider works from. My provider still does not have a record of me getting the vaccinations, I have to go in and let them make a copy of my card so they can enter it in the system (or find it in the system, since it's the same system). I have to get bloodwork done in June so that's when I'll take the vaccination card in.

We have a somewhat similar situation.  We received our shots from RiteAid who is supposed to forward the info directly to our primary care provider/healthcare system.  But RiteAid (and some other vaccine programs) have not done a good job forwarding info and our physician has never received squat!  So they have suggested we stop in the office with our CDC Vaccine cards so they can enter the info into our medical records.

Our shots were scheduled thru our health care provider group.  They were not given at our site, but in the next county.  The group changed record systems a couple years ago, but not all offices in the group changed over.  You used to be able to access lab results, but no more - with exception of the cardiologist, who still has the old platform, with different login.  However, we have the Medicare billing statements detailing the administration fees.  Strange, they charged a lot more for the second shot!  In addition, we registered with CDC v- safe follow-up.  Just has the 3 month text/check last week.  When in that site, you can check your profile.  It will show name, birthdate, zip code, and type and date of each dose.  I did a screen print of that on my phone.  Of course, we do have our cards.  EM

Could they require an antigen test test before boarding.  I believe that you get results from that test really fast.

Quick response to Pris993's response.  The problem w his suggestion that the cruise lines have to be very flexible in verifying vaccinations means that there will be more ways to beat the system.  There should have been a national government system to track who has gotten the shots but it is too late to start that now unless the states allow the feds to access their vaccination records.  Can you imagine all of the states actually allowing that to happen.

Unfortunately I worked for the Fed govt for 30 years, retired 20 years ago, what I see going on today does not impress me, so I support less govt vs more at both the fed and state level..

I am taking my DH to Kaiser to see Primary care doctor.  We have a card recording his shots with CVS I am taking a copy of his vaccine record to Kaiser to have it scanned into his medical records.  Very easy for any primary doctor's office to do.
