Medallion App Updated and Working Now

Well I have heard back from the Medallion Customer Service and they tell me my  I Phone 6 is not compatible with the Medallion.   They said they would assist me when the time comes to get Ocean Ready . (Not sure what that means).  So if anyone else out there has an I phone 6 and gets the app working please post it please.

Also I have an I pad mini that the app is working on  so my question is to the people that have used the Medallion on the ship how often once you are on board would you need your phone . Would it be required if you wanted Dine my Way, or Ocean Casino Games, or anything else ? I like my phone and don't see the the need to upgrade just so I can use the app.

Most things can be done through the television in your cabin or at screens located around the ship.  The only advantage of being tied to your phone or iPad is if you plan to have beverages delivered to your present location.  There might be other advantages but I cannot think of any.

I would add that finding cabinmate or travelling companions is a good thing.

The Patter activities are in the App.

They are going to be posting menus in the App.

Yes, if want to do Dine My Way without returning to cabin or using a public interactive screen in the elevator lobbies or some other location.

 

We always have internet plan, so we use that for WhatsApp to each other.

Also, can check weather forecast at upcoming ports.

Contact or check-in with private tour providers.

Email.

General internet surfing.

My problem with this app is that it does not load half the time when adding info or trying to reserve dining.  My 9/18 7 day was cancelled so I rebooked 9/25 5 day. The App shows I am cruising from 9/18-9/30. It allows me to get into the dining reservation area but when I try to reserve main room dining it doesn't confirm and for  specialty dining it takes me thru the credit card confirmation page but then it goes to an error page. I go the the Covid contract area check the boxes for acceptance of rules, click accept and it doesn't load. I have booked two later cruises and have the same problem even though it made a dinner reservation for a Nov cruise confirmed it and then the next time I looked it was gone. The only think that worked perfectly was entering my payment information. Great way to piss off customers, make them use something that does not work properly

Blue Lane (Princess' primary color) is used within OceanReady section of MedallionClass App which represents the status once you have a booking.  As you complete items within the Travel Checklist, you get Green checkmarks.  I think once you have successfully completed as many of the steps as possible at a particular date between booking and cruising, you are considered in the Green Lane - or ready to cruise. 

 

For example, we have voyages booked for Fall 2022 and have completed the first three of the five steps.  That puts us in the Green Lane since Steps 4 & 5 are not possible to do this far ahead.  I would venture that if we ignored the MC App and it was a day or two prior to cruising, we would be back in the Blue Lane.  The "Lanes" are just a figure of speech.

That's unfortunate.  When I check Play Store just now - latest version is still June 7.

Maybe in addition to telling customers they must buy a smart phone even if they don't want one, now they're also telling us which brand we need to purchase...😠

Yes, but I meant unfortunate that his bugs weren't fixed with the new Apple release.

I have downloaded the MedallionClass app to my ipad mini. When i open it up I can get to the screen that asks me to set up my log in. I touch the screen to proceed and then the entire app shuts down and it is back on my home screen ready to open again. I have delete the app and downloaded it again and still the same thing happens. I have an ipad mini 2, model A1489, ISO 12.5.4. Does anyone have any idea why I can't get it to work. I would hate to think I have to by a new ipad just so I can go on a cruise. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm hoping I don't have to call Princess.

It should work on your ipad mini.  You don't need the app to have the medallion.  You can complete all the info on ocean.com and in your Princess personalizer.  Once you get to the port they will issue your medallion.

Ocean.com, went on that and you then select a cruise line. I selected Princess and it looked like it was  going onto Princess website. So my question, why would you even go on that website. Please explain.

Not surprisingly, still no joy with my iphone 6, so I went on to the app on the ipad (which does appear to be functioning) and just played around. For those of you wondering how to input your info - on mine I have found the trick. Lol. If I click on my name there is no way to proceed to enter any info - the screen shows that it needs it, but it's grayed out and there is no way to click on travel documents, etc. However, if I click on my son's name (pax 2) the secttions are clickable, I can proceed to enter info and, once in that spot, I can click between all passengers. Now, I'm not sure if this would apply if the other guests were adults and had their own log ins (both mine are children) but I was able to enter everything this way (except kid's passports as they are still waiting on new ones). It was a clunky work around, but it did work and we have lots of green checks rather than orange exclamation marks now!

 

Still not working (but this is for April 2022 sailing, so may be too early) - arrival/departure groups (none available), order medallion (white screen), specialty dining for suite (first night free but they want payment)...baby steps

Still not able to get to the cruise personalizer. After logging into my cruise, the site still refers me to the MedallionClass app. As I mentioned in my previous post I can open the app up but will not let me proceed with the log-in setup, the app just simply disappears and has to be reopened again. A vicious circle.

Sorry if I confused you.  When you log into your Princess account and click manage booking;  you can still fill out all the required info there.  I just logged into my account and I have guest check in where I input all my info.  Once I fill that out I can also select my bed preference, input my passport info etc.  It does say coming soon the ocean medallion app which you can download onto your smart device.  Apologize for any confusion

I just went on apples website.  Your Ipad mini 2 "is not supported by the latest Ipad OS 14.6".  Princess' latest ocean medallion app will only work on ipads and iphones with the latest IOS software.  Sorry

Thankyou AF-1 for your help with this matter. I was afraid of that. SO now I have to purchase a new ipad so I can be ocean ready. In Canada that just added another $600 to my cruise price. Not very happy about this. You would think that Princess might grandfather in some of the people that may not be able to afford an upgrade right now and just let them do the work on their PC the old way.

To make matters worse;  I do not believe the ocean medallion app is 100% ready for prime time.  Now that cruising is starting back up so many people are trying to update their trip info on the app;  and the app just isn't all that ready to work.  I don't believe anyone on cruisecritic has been able to complete all their trip info in their medallion app.  sorry to hear they raised your cruise price

I had that problem with my phone being obsolete. I bought a new android smart phone that was reasonably priced at Costco.It was about $160.00. Does what I need it to do and Medallion appl sort of works (still flawed but it works as well as it does for everyone). So a small extra cost for cruising with Princess. It is a Samsung A12.

Unfortunately when apple updates their software;  all the third party vendors have to upgrade their apps to work with the new operating system. So if you own an older ipad or iphone running an older operating system; once the third part vendor updates it app;  it won't work on your smart device.

There are others who do not have a device to use the app. Wait it out 

 

I and others have contacted Princess and they say agents will be at the terminal to assist those who have not completed before the 

Of course they want us to use the app
