Im getting on the first ship that I can.

Ive read all the posts and stories for and against the Covid vaccine. Would you sail with a mask, what if the buffet is closed ,do I have to take only cruise line excursion. I don't care what the rules are I have my vaccination and I'll get on the next ship that will let me. I'll accept any temporary restriction the cruise line needs in place till they can get back to some sort of normal.  Cruising can't return till the ships leave the docks and Im ready to help make that happen .

im with  you bro! we were ready to roll on july 4th, but ncl cancelled. i rebooked for oct 10th, also cancelled. i want to cruise europe as we've been to many carribbean ports already.

We’ll be living vicariously through you initial passengers and can’t wait to read the trip reports! Sadly, this winter we made the assumption that cruising would not return in 2021, so we booked a 2022 and made plans for this year to go to Napa, Outer Banks, Cape Cod and Aspen instead.

 

I am so looking forward to reading trip reports, seeing dining reviews, etc. Anything to get away from the “will they, won’t they sail” and incessant vaccine threads.

We're booked for August on the Gem from the Dominican Republic.  It doesn't matter to me what we have to do to get on the ship.  I booked NCL excursions already and made dining reservations so all we have to do is show up at the airport with our vaccine cards in our grubby little hands.  If they want us to jump thru fire hoops, okay, it's not going to be forever.  I just want to cruise.

Amen! We already had an all inclusive booked for this week as soon as we got our vaccine appointments, so we won't have enough vacation time accrued until Sept. 1 now, but we already booked a B2B on the Joy from Jamaica for Sept. 4 and Sept. 11! I cannot wait and would be on a ship right now instead of a lame all inclusive of I could have!

Are you on the Celebrity Sailing, June 5? I believe that’s the first mainstream cruise line to sail out of North America since the pandemic started.

Thank you! We are all looking forward to it! My brothers and I are scattered across the country and we lost our Mom this year (not to COVID).... we’ve adopted the “you can’t take it with you approach” 😀

We're both double vaccinated (Pfizer) and ready for a cruise!

 

We have a cruise booked on the Adventure of the Seas in June (Nassau) and the Joy in August. We're waiting to see what happens with US-based cruises in the fall and may switch out if things open up. 

 

Right now, we are flying in a day early to Jamaica... but are waiting to see what the testing rules are (i.e., need to have a negative PCR to enter the country which is still valid to get on the ship,,, need to make sure the timing all works out). We don't like flying in on day-of-cruise during hurricane season. And our connections into Jamaica are pretty limited (worse going home).

Hard to tell right now,,,  and it will change several times before you sail. 

 

NCL.COM/SAFE says that 

All guests will be required to take a COVID-19 antigen test, administered and paid for by the cruise line, prior to boarding and receive a negative result. Guests are also responsible for complying with all local health and safety requirements which may include additional testing.

... so bringing your own test results may not be necessary... but we'll wait and see. 

 

Note: That this site is constantly changing with updated rules and regulations (e.g., the fact that you do not have to take an NCL shore excursion changed last week). 

 

Jamaica still requires a negative PCR or Antigen test done by a "CLIA registered or ISO certified lab" 3 days prior to arrival into the country. And requires you to apply for and get an approved Travel Authorization before going there. they also say that the test has to be approved by the FDA under an Emergency Use Authorization or meet the standards of the WHO. 

 

Our Royal cruise out of Nassau says that we need to upload a negative COVID test prior to arriving at the ship. Royal says that they will provide information on all requirements 30 days prior to departure (which is still a few weeks away for us), so we'll see if that is really true. We are also overnighting in Nassau before the cruise.

We are still a little way from being able to get on a ship. I am 58, my husband is 51 and my son is 22 we have no idea when we will get vaccinated in Spain.  The health ministry has determined that the AZ shot can only be used on 60-69 year olds and the J&J one can only be used on over 60s and yet they keep giving Pfizer and Moderna jabs to that age group, still they can only give out the meagre supplies of any vaccine that we have I suppose and the older groups are more important. I am hoping that I will get my first shot this month, maybe my husband will get his in June but my son, well goodness only knows.

 

In Spain, we are currently vaccinating the 60-79 year olds.  Loads of health workers who were given AZ before now aren't allowed to have their 2nd shot so that's up in the air now too

Will not consider cruising for quite some time until the product offering is clear and consistent.

There was entirely too much downgrading and nickle and diming and promotions that were price increases happening before covid and I suspect this approach will be accelerated due to debt levels. 

 

I have not forgotten whatsoever.

 

I took refunds, not Fcc, so my $ are available to me for wide deployment.

Escorted and private escorted land tours are the vacation option going forward.

Considering none of my friends will consider a cruise going forward, it will be interesting to see what happens to cruise lines when the Fccs are used up.

So based on your original paragraph you had really decided not to cruise before all this kicked off and you simply took the opportunity to get your cash back. 

 

I have cruises booked beyond my FCC and I'm sure many others have too, I expect the cruise lines will survive

If any of you are so desperate for a vacation that you are considering an all-inclusive since cruising isn't available, I will be writing a blog about my experience at an all-inclusive in Cancun later today or tomorrow. My basic advice is, "hold out for a cruise!"
