BUSY DAY AT PORT CANAVERAL....BUT....WE NEED CELEBRITY IN THE HOUSE

June 4th, 2021 was a busy day at Port Canaveral FL. Reminded me of the good old days when ships were coming and going and cruises were plentiful from the best cruise port in the land. Early A.M. brought the newest Carnival ship, Mardi Gras, to her home and to her brand new terminal. She was escorted by older sisters, Liberty and Freedom. Liberty docked next to Disney Fantasy while Freedom made the turnaround in the basin and headed back out. Soon thereafter, Royal's Odyssey proudly made her way in to port, introducing herself to Miss Gras. She arrived for several days of work and crew vaccinations before heading to South Florida. As Odyssey eased her way in to her berth, Fantasy sailed by for open waters.

Seeing all this action and living only 30 minutes from Port Canaveral, it certainly conjured up memories of cruises past and stimulated thoughts of future sailings. Brevard county and Port Canaveral are very fortunate to play a large role in the cruising industry. Carnival, Disney, MSC, NCL, and Royal are all players in Brevard's maritime game. Celebrity is my primary cruise line of choice. Perhaps with just a hint of bias, I believe that the BIG X would fit perfectly into Port Canaveral's skyline. Needless to say, embarkation and debarkation is less stressful from this laid-back beachside community. Passengers on several cruise lines have enjoyed sailing from Port Canaveral for many years. Celebrity needs to afford it's passengers that same opportunity. Anytime soon would be fine.

Hi Odyssey, any of your X rated lady friends live here. Not yet Mardi, but soon.

I've had the pleasure of hitting Ron Jon's just before boarding Grandeur OTS back in the day.  Or maybe in was Serenade.  With family in Merritt Is. and less than 8 hours from NW ATL, I'd love a PC based =X=.  We were supposed to sail Mercury from Charleston, but she got sold out from under us!

I agree! It would be great if Celebrity based a ship at Port Canaveral. My drive time from Ocala to "Celebrity, take me away ! " would be halved.

I know there's Tampa, but my DH loves spending the cruise smoking cigars at the Sunset Bar, so he won't sail M Class anymore. 😩

I would LOVE having Celebrity set up shop at Port Canaveral!  We love our Celebrity cruises, but we really dislike having to deal with the madness in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale port areas!

We find that port canaveral is far from the airport and the Orlando airport much too busy- Ft. Lauderdale IMO a good florida option-

No doubt, Orlando and Melbourne airports are farther from Port Canaveral than airports in FLL and MIA are from their cruise ports. However, if you drive to your Florida cruise port from anywhere, the central coast location makes Port Canaveral ideal in avoiding the congestion of south Florida. Also, for folks wanting a pre or post cruise land holiday in Orlando, PC is the obvious choice. The advantage of flying in on cruise day with closer access to your cruise ship definitely goes to FLL and MIA.

Naturally, your ship and itinerary of choice will determine which cruise port meets your needs. There are certainly enough Celebrity supporters to justify an X presence at Port Canaveral without taking passengers away from other ports.

After flying in to Orlando, we rented a car, spent a few days at theme parks, then dropped off our vehicle near Port Canaveral and took the rental agency’s shuttle to the pier. Then just reverse to return.

I agree for those flying PEV is superior.  For those of us who can drive from the SE, PC would be a nice option.  We haven't sailed Royal in 7 years, so we never even look at Brevard cruises. (that's the county)
