Absolutely Disgusted by Royal Caribbean

For people that are vaccinated and asymptomatic aren't testing, so no positives. This is highlighting a huge problem with breakthrough infections.  All sports teams are vaccinated but are still undergoing frequent mandatory testing. Look at the NY Yankees, they had 9 vaccinated players and staff test positive.

Correct; and the Yankees have many staff members, so when you factor that in, they probably had about a 5% infection rate; the good news was that it was reported 7 had no symptoms and 2 had mild symptoms. The vaccine doesn’t promise immunity to all, just very low risk of hospitalization and death.

agree.  My perception has been these restrictions (even NCL and Celebrity fully vaccinated only) are short term and would disappear when the CSO no longer applies. Or in the case of Alaska - for the time period covering the new legislation to sail

I could be wrong !

Agree, Masks on way out and never thought a Vaccine requirement ever be Permanent. Never even assumed we could get to 60 or 70% Population Vaccinated. With numbers that are and those with Natural Immunity, Herd Immunity is now within reach. This even though Country is open and Cases down over 95%

The cancellation policy is quite liberal... take advantage of it. But at some point unvaccinated people will be on cruises... so for those concerned about that... consider camping. You certainly don't want to take an airplane or stay in a hotel or go to a restaurant.

Exactly this

Above someone said he got his (1st) shot after his exposure. I.e. the barn door was locked after the horse was stolen. Too bad for him, too bad for the one who exposed him.

I have not read anywhere that stated he was vaccinated. From PGA Tor News:

The PGA Tour said Rahm was placed in contact tracing protocols on Monday after officials learned he had been in close contact with someone who was Covid-19 positive.
Rahm elected to remain in the tournament and undergo daily testing and have restricted access to indoor facilities at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
He remained asymptomatic and tested negative every day, the PGA Tour said. But a test performed after Rahm completed his rain-delayed second round on Saturday morning returned a positive result as did a confirmatory test on the original sample, according to the PGA Tour.
The Tour's medical adviser informed Rahm of his test results upon completion of his third round and, following Tour protocols, he was withdrawn from the competition.
Rahm will remain in isolation for the next 10 days in accordance with CDC guidelines.

As one who has cruised on Royal many times in the past, I must say, never again. We booked two cruises for early next year with the assurance that Royal would be maintaining strict COVID protocols. The fact that they are now going to allow un-vaccinated passengers on board is a total breach of contract under which we booked the cruises. I understand, when one needs to cancel their cruise for most appropriate reasons within the proper time frame, they would be afforded a credit towards a future cruise. The fact that Royal has totally changed their safety protocols is a breach of contract, and we should be allowed a refund. Of course they have turned us down on that.

Forget about the money we are going to lose, but allowing non-vaccinated passengers on a cruise is downright irresponsible. My wife and I are fully vaccinated, but those who are not could be carrying virus and pass it on to others who are not vaccinated. The more people who are not vaccinated and catching COVID, the greater the growth of variants.

Unvaccinated passengers could bring the virus to the ports we visit, many of which are already impoverished with poor health facilities.

Cruises could be cut short or stranded at sea if a COVID outbreak occurs on a ship. We saw the nightmare of COVID on cruise ships in the early stages of the pandemic. Do you want to risk more nightmares on the seas. And if that happens, there might end up being a longer and more severe shut down of the cruise industry.

What Royal Caribbean has done is disgusting and irresponsible.

I just hope I can read this entire thread before it gets deleted forever.

Um....is this a troll?  If so, it's one of the better ones.  Kudos.

Wait a second...is this you Rochelle [Walensky]?  Great writing, I can almost see the tears.

But seriously, if you're vax'ed, you good.  If you're recovered, you're good.  End of story.  Unvax'ed people choosing to cruise is 100% their business and their choice.

No cruise will be cut short because no one will ever ask for a covid test onboard.  To much of a risk.  It's just allergies, the flu, food poisening, noro, anything but covid.  This is just how people will be.

In fact, I'd rather have these people on board than a bunch of covid karens running around taddling on anyone who sneezes.

That assertion is absolutely untrue. If you work in healthcare you must know that or are seriously misinformed. As of June 1, there have been just over 3000 breakthrough COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths reported. 535 were fatalities. Yes, it is a minuscule amount given the millions who have been fully vaccinated and the risk of serious infection or death is effectively zero, but it is inaccurate to say no one has died of COVID following vaccination.

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/health-departments/breakthrough-cases.html

FYI 2,854 hospitalized of which 23% "asymptomatic or not related to Covid-19" of the 535 fatalities 16% asymptomatic or not related to Covid-19 this is of a total of 135,000,000 fully vaccinated people... While not exactly a comparable comparison... all those who plan on driving to port.... the risk of being in a car accident on a 1,000 journey is apparently 1 in 366.  So yes it is possible... most anything is possible... but probable ?

If you are vaccinated you dont have any worries. Can we please get by this. I work in health care as a career. Get your information from credible sources. What I stated is fact. Not 1 documented case of a person who is vaccinated dying from covid. Please, dont listen to the tabloid news. Search out true science. You cant live your life in fear. Far greater risks in life that you take daily without thinking about it.

For me, the worries have NOTHING to do with not feeling safe and fear of contracting Covid. I feel very protected with my Moderna shots. The worries have EVERYTHING to do with the safety protocols on board the ship that will be implemented if there is a Covid outbreak on board because of un-vaxxed passengers. I do not want my cruise vacation to be negatively impacted because of un-vaxxed passengers.

Also nearly 5000 have died because of the shot as well.

What's the source of this information?

True.....we walk around un-vaxxed people all the time ON LAND. That is a whole different ball game. On a ship, we are not able to leave the ship at will. That is like comparing apples to oranges.

STOP posting this, it is FALSE

535 people out of 135,000,000 fully vaccinated... may not be 1 or zero... but it is very very small number... and a portion died with covid not because of covid

More important, they almost surely did not die because of the jab, they died with the jab.

They had almost 18 months to come up with new policies… there is a lot more known about Covid than there was in the beginning.  I seriously doubt they will quarantine a whole ship and keep them stuck at sea again.  They have to make money and its not profitable to create another nightmare sailing experience.  Find out what their plans are for these types of worst case scenarios and then decide how it would impact you. These initial cruises are not going to be 100% perfect and anyone not having patience or flexibility should probably stay home.

The un-vaxxed should stay home until they are eligible for the vaccine. Simple as that.

That number looks more like the total that tested positive for Covid after vaccination... again out of some 135million so....

How do you plan on only meeting vaccinated people in ports?

Your rant is so full of holes that it just sounds like someone living in fear despite being vaccinated.

Doesn’t matter. The post was “absolutely no one” has died from Covid post vaccine.
The statement is false.

You really don't get it? Or are you just trying to rile people up? Nobody here that a I have seen is talking about being concerned about being around unvaccinated people. Sure, when you see some lout roll down out of the backwoods you might want to be a bit concerned about whether he knows how to behave, but its probably ok. The concern for me and I think for most others here is not about getting sick; the concern is about having our travel ruined because too many unvaccinated passengers leads to too many illnesses on board and then restrictions and cancelled port calls and quarantine...
