Everyone's different. As you've read above, some, like us, take this itinerary again and again. Some can't take those five sea days coming home. As mentioned, the first day or so out of the west coast can be rough seas.

Helps to plan things to do those five sea days eastbound. Make your stop in Ensenada something to look forward to. We liked the Casino tour and wine tasting.

If considering flying into LA and sailing from there, don't do the Feb 13, '22 as that is the day of the Super Bowl and the venue is right by LAX. Traffic will be nuts! Roll Call posters are saying hotels already booked up.

This is one of our favorite winter getaways but we love sea days.  Unfortunately we originally booked for 2/13/22 on the Grand but as noted above, Super Bowl Sunday is 2/13/22 in LA which made finding hotel space impossible.  Our solution, we booked the 10 day Mexico cruise leaving 2/3/22, problem solved!

I've been reading your posts on the Roll Call thread.  Looking forward to meeting you after we board on the 13th.  Our plan is to arrive at the port really early AM. Walking distance things to see like Battleship Iowa, which opens at 10, and really good restaurants nearby.

On our Hawaii and South Pacific cruise we had Hawaiian Ambassadors up until we reached Hawaii. When we left to continue on to the other ports we unfortunately lost the entertainment. I have to say I was very surprised one day in Wheelhouse to hear a great version of Santana's Samba Pa Ti on electric ukulele.  It was real treat for me. (I love that song and never expected to hear it on ukulele.) 😎

Too late now, but I am betting a hotels in Orange County would have been wide open for booking. No matter how big the Super Bowl seems, even if it drew in 150,000 fans (double So Fi's capacity), it is a drop in the bucket in a metro area with almost 20 million people.

Not Elua. There is usually one ship from LA and one from SF during the cruise season "Elua" usually does the LA ship.  The other couple has done the SF route for the past few years.

Aloha Kakou,

I believe you would be talking about either Makani E (Rozz and Jim) or Brian and Rowena Vasquez. Those are the two couples that will usually be working out of SF.

Malama!

I see that you have now gotten your schedule.  Do you know who will replace you on the Grande for the March 2022 Hawaiian cruise?
