Hotel and Parking in Los Angles

We have booked a cruise in March 2022 on Princess Grand to Hawaii. We will be driving to Los Angles .  Are there any hotels near the port where we could stay and leave our car? We would be returning to the hotel to spend the night after disembarking. Thanks for any information.

Doubletree Hilton is where we stay, because we are Hilton loyal. They have a stay and park fee. So we stay the night before the cruise and leave our car for the duration of the cruise. They also have a shuttle service that can get you to/from the cruise port, but we usually just uber/lyft ourselves and get there faster. 

Not a lot of places to eat there. We usually drive somewhere. 

However, given that you are staying AFTER your cruise, you may want to call and speak to a hotel manager to ask about it leaving your car and staying after. They give you a paper to put o on your dashboard when you leave your car, but it's been years since we left our car, so I'm not sure if that is still the policy. 

Last time we cruised out of LA we drove in, parked at the port and drove home. That was awesome because leaving the port can be hectic via uber or shuttle.

DoubleTree and Crowne Plaza are the two closest. We always just park in the terminal lot for simplicity sake.

To be honest I would not stay close to the port at San Pedro.  In the past we just parked at the port, though they have raised their parking fees.

 

If you are going to stay in San Pedro the Doubletree is probably the best choice.

 

For something different stay on the Queen Mary, once they open it up again (currently closed)  over at Long Beach the night before, then drive over to the port at San Pedro the next morning and park at the pier.

We stay at the best western  world port hotel (Wilmington Ca). About 5 miles ($13 lyft) to pier and park for 7 days free  If you stay before and after I would think they would let you.310-834-3400 good luck

The Doublebtree is where we usually stay but they've raised their prices so we are trying Crowne Plaza in Decembet. Check price for your dates

Join your cruise's Roll Call - usually good advice there, plus you can hook up for dinner/breakfast/ride share before & after.   And many times the group will set up Cruise Critic events: Meet and Mingle, Slot Pull, Cabin Crawl, etc. …

Agree with others. Doubletree or Crowne Plaza. We stay at Crowne Plaza but both have a "park and sail" sort of deal. We once got an insane deal at Crowne Plaza through Priceline. Don't know if they still do that or not. One could Google for "make a bid on a hotel room" and see if they still do it or if there are other places that do that.

  My wife and I have done this several times in the past, it help set the tone that we are on a cruise vacation.

First, be wary of the terms...Many hotel "Park and Cruise" deals only include seven extra days of parking...so, be very careful.

 

In San Pedro, there are only two hotels I recommend:  The Doubletree and the Crowne Plaza.  Both have Park and Cruise packages.  January 2020--our last pre-pandemic cruise, we stayed at the Doubletree.  We actually did not use the "Park and Cruise" package...Rather, we booked a room for free using Hilton points--Hilton points did not allow for the Park and Cruise deal...so, we called the hotel directly and asked about it...They said "no problem".  Parking is in an outdoor lot in front of the hotel...which is in a fairly nice, safe neighborhood.  When we checked in, we asked at the desk--they said to just park in a certain section of the lot, basically, the spaces just beyond those first few spaces in front of the front door--no problem.  No valet, no leaving your keys, no paper tags...almost like anyone could just park there anyway.  They shuttled us to the cruise terminal and told us how to summon the shuttle upon our return.  It all went extremely smoothly.

 

Our next Princess cruise from LA--October on Majestic, we don't have enough Hilton points...The Doubletree rates for a Park and Cruise were significantly higher than the Crowne Plaza--so we booked the CP for this time--for only $149 ($172 with tax)...We have a 7-night cruise, so, pier parking alone would have been $140!!  But, at the CP, it's a little different--underground parking and you eave keys with valet.  we'll see how this one goes.  One key-  Book early--rates go up.
