  • John popped into FB this afternoon unannounced and described some changes and enhancements for the return to sea sailing of July and August.  They will be relying more on the fun hub.  For YTD, the checkin can be requested on the HuB instead of checking in at a desk.  Nice enhancement.  Also can be used for DR breakfast and brunch instead of waitin in lines.  More coming like ordering pizzas and more instead of lines.  All good news.  I am sure some her can fill in anything I missed.

Thanks Jimbo! The delivery bit is interesting, I wonder if they will remove the surcharge, as I’m an avid fan of that service whilst shoving booze down my face. Also love the utilization of the hub for reservations, I feel like that’s something they should’ve implemented a few years ago.

This process was available pre COVID-19, and it was great!  Worked very well for us.  Requested a table before we even left our cabin and never had to wait long.  CCL has also announced that muster drills will be digital via the HUB app as well.  Nice!!! 👍

When was this? I was on a Legend sailing to Alaska in 2019(last cruise I was on) and that wasn’t available via the hub app. At the very least, I never saw it available. Always had to go to the desk and get a buzzer for YTD.

It wasn't available on all ships. Definitely a nice perk!!

Thanks again jimbo.  Some minor points that I found interesting:

  • Coming soon - the ability to order & pick up at casual food outlets like BlueIguana (and Guy's??? 🙏)
  • Coming soon - the ability to order & have delivered casual food to where you are, like pizza is done already
  • Coming soon - the ability to book seats at the comedy club and the theater
  • Hub App not coming soon for Amazon app store and Apple Watches
  • No price for the Bolt roller coaster yet on Mardi Gras yet (they'd better hurry up!)

Nice! Looking forward to experiencing it. Although I didn’t mind going to check in and then waiting at a bar for my buzzer to go off. I guess in theory I can do the same thing, just less steps!

It would be nice if it was setup to order a pizza and it notified you when it was ready for pickup with no room service fee that way.

It will have that as well as deliovered

Awesome! Question is, for a fee? The pizza was for a fee, but I’m curious since it’s uh interesting times, it’ll be waived. Specifically talking about delivery services of random items, including the pizza.

Mr. Heald didn't mention a fee, which doesn't mean there won't be one.  He did, however, encourage tipping for delivery services.

Awesome! More than happy to tip! Especially if you’re dealing with my inebriated self. However, the encouragement of tipping makes me think it won’t be for a fee. Cool beans! Super duper groovy! Appreciate it Honolulu!

on some ships, there was pizza delivery for a fee. IIRC it was $5 delivery. They would find you anywhere on the ship. I toyed with the idea of having pizza delivered to slot machine....Just thought I could save money by leaving casino to get food....

We have used the app for YTD before on our last 2 cruises. It works great. The brunch, breakfast, and entertainment part is new but I think will work well.

im sure that some people that don't use apps will have some issues when they see people walking past them standing in line like people do in restaurants wheee you can pre order and walk right up to the counter. But hey, that's the future.

I hope this will streamline things the way we're all thinking it will.  I've never had to wait more than a very few minutes for Guy's (mostly because they've always had their act together), but lines at some of the other specialty food places HAVE been pretty bad.  I'm also cautiously optimistic about this being an improvement for comedy club seating, in the past we've just always made it a point to grab our seats 15 or so minutes early and relax while we wait for the show.

I would be very surprised if there wasn't a fee baked in to the order. Of course tipping is extra and there is probably a place in the app to do so.

I do not have a FB account so I wondered has anyone asked John about the July and August ship capacity?  Just curious if he has been asked or if he brought that up himself in his posts.
